14.

1 너희는 마음에 근심하지 말라. 하나님을 믿고 또한 나를 믿으라.

1 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

2 내 [아버지] 집에 거할 곳이 많도다. 그렇지 않으면 내가 너희에게 말해 주었으리라. 내가 너희를 위해 처소를 예비하러 가노니

2 "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 가서 너희를 위해 처소를 예비하면 내가 다시 와서 너희를 내게로 받아들여 내가 있는 곳에, 거기에 너희도 있게 하리라.

3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

4 내가 어디로 가는지 너희가 알고 또 그 길을 너희가 아느니라.

4 "And where I go you know, and the way you know."

5 도마가 그분께 이르되, [주]여, 주께서 어디로 가시는지 우리가 알지 못하거늘 어찌 그 길을 알겠나이까? 하매

5 Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?"

6 예수님께서 그에게 이르시되, 내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나를 통하지 않고는 아무도 [아버지]께 오지 못하느니라.

6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

7 너희가 나를 알았더라면 내 [아버지]도 알았으리라. 이제부터는 너희가 그분을 알며 또 보았느니라, 하시니라.

7 "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him."

8 빌립이 그분께 이르되, [주]여, 우리에게 [아버지]를 보여 주소서. 그리하면 우리에게 족하겠나이다, 하니

8 Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us."

9 예수님께서 그에게 이르시되, 빌립아, 내가 이렇게 오랫동안 너희와 함께 있었으되 네가 아직도 나를 알지 못하느냐? 나를 본 자는 [아버지]를 보았거늘 어찌 네가 말하기를, 우리에게 [아버지]를 보여 주소서, 하느냐?

9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

10 내가 [아버지] 안에 있고 [아버지]께서 내 안에 계신 것을 네가 믿지 아니하느냐? 내가 너희에게 이르는 말들은 내가 스스로 하지 아니하느니라. 오직 내 안에 거하시는 [아버지] 곧 그분께서 그 일들을 하시느니라.

10 "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

11 내가 [아버지] 안에 있고 [아버지]께서 내 안에 계신다는 내 말을 믿으라. 그렇게 못하겠거든 바로 그 일들로 인하여 나를 믿으라.

11 "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

12 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 나를 믿는 자는 또한 내가 하는 그 일들을 할 것이요, 또 이것들보다 더 큰일들도 하리니 이는 내가 내 [아버지]께로 가기 때문이라.

12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

13 너희가 내 이름으로 무엇을 구하든지 내가 그것을 행하리니 이것은 [아버지]께서 [아들] 안에서 영광을 받게 하려 함이라.

13 "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 너희가 내 이름으로 무엇이든지 구하면 내가 그것을 행하리라.

14 "If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

15 ¶ 너희가 나를 사랑하면 내 명령들을 지키라.

15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.

16 내가 [아버지]께 구할 터인즉 그분께서 다른 [위로자]를 너희에게 주사 그분께서 영원토록 너희와 함께 거하게 하시리니

16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--

17 곧 진리의 [영]이시라. 세상은 그분을 받아들이지 못하나니 이는 세상이 그분을 보지도 못하고 알지도 못하기 때문이라. 그러나 너희는 그분을 아나니 이는 그분께서 너희와 함께 거하시며 또 너희 속에 계실 것이기 때문이라.

17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

18 내가 너희를 위로 없이 버려두지 아니하고 너희에게로 오리라.

18 "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

19 조금 있으면 세상은 더 이상 나를 보지 못하되 너희는 나를 보리니 내가 살아 있으므로 너희도 살리라.

19 "A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.

20 그 날에는 내가 내 [아버지] 안에, 너희가 내 안에, 내가 너희 안에 있음을 너희가 알리라.

20 "At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

21 내 명령들을 가지고 그것들을 지키는 자가 나를 사랑하는 자니 나를 사랑하는 자는 내 [아버지]께 사랑을 받을 것이요, 나도 그를 사랑하여 그에게 나를 나타내리라, 하시니라.

21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."

22 가룟이 아닌 유다가 그분께 이르되, [주]여, 어찌 주께서 우리에게는 자신을 나타내시고 세상에는 아니하려 하시나이까? 하매

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"

23 예수님께서 그에게 대답하여 이르시되, 사람이 나를 사랑하면 내 말들을 지키리니 내 [아버지]께서 그를 사랑하실 것이요, 우리가 그에게 가서 우리의 거처가 그와 함께 있게 하리라.

23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

24 나를 사랑하지 아니하는 자는 내 말들을 지키지 아니하나니 너희가 듣는 말은 내 것이 아니요, 나를 보내신 [아버지]의 것이니라.

24 "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.

25 내가 아직 너희와 함께 있으며 이것들을 너희에게 말하였거니와

25 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.

26 [위로자] 곧 [아버지]께서 내 이름으로 보내실 [성령님] 그분께서 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치시고 내가 너희에게 무엇을 말하였든지 너희가 모든 것을 기억하게 하시리라.

26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

27 내가 너희에게 평안을 남기노니 곧 나의 평안을 너희에게 주노라. 세상이 주는 것과 달리 내가 너희에게 주노니 너희는 마음에 근심하지도 말고 두려워하지도 말라.

27 "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 내가 너희에게 말한 것 즉, 내가 갔다가 너희에게 다시 오리라, 한 것을 너희가 들었나니 너희가 나를 사랑하였다면, 내가 [아버지]께로 가노라, 하고 말하였으므로 기뻐하였으리라. 이는 내 [아버지]께서 나보다 크시기 때문이니라.

28 "You have heard Me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for My Father is greater than I.

29 이제 그것이 일어나기 전에 내가 너희에게 말한 것은 그것이 일어날 때에 너희가 믿게 하려 함이라.

29 "And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.

30 이제부터는 내가 너희와 많이 말하지 아니하리니 이는 이 세상의 통치자가 오기 때문이니라. 그는 내 안에서 아무것도 취하지 못하느니라.

30 "I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.

31 다만 내가 [아버지]를 사랑하는 것과 [아버지]께서 내게 명령을 주신 대로 내가 행하는 것을 세상이 알게 하려 하노라. 일어나라. 우리가 여기를 떠나자, 하시니라.

31 "But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

15.

1 나는 참 포도나무요 내 [아버지]는 농부시니

1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

2 내 안에서 열매를 맺지 아니하는 모든 가지는 그분께서 제거하시고 열매를 맺는 모든 가지는 깨끗하게 하사 그것이 더 많은 열매를 맺게 하시느니라.

2 "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

3 이제 너희는 내가 너희에게 일러 준 말로 깨끗하게 되었으니

3 "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

4 내 안에 거하라. 나도 너희 안에 거하리라. 가지가 포도나무 안에 거하지 아니하면 스스로 열매를 맺을 수 없는 것 같이 너희도 내 안에 거하지 아니하면 더 이상 열매를 맺을 수 없느니라.

4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

5 나는 포도나무요 너희는 가지니라. 사람이 내 안에 거하고 내가 그 안에 거하면 바로 그 사람은 많은 열매를 맺나니 나 없이는 너희가 아무것도 할 수 없느니라.

5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

6 사람이 내 안에 거하지 아니하면 그는 가지처럼 버려져서 시드나니 사람들이 그것들을 모아 불 속에 던져 태우느니라.

6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 너희가 내 안에 거하고 내 말들이 너희 안에 거하면 너희가 원하는 바를 구하라. 그러면 그것이 너희에게 이루어지리라.

7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

8 너희가 열매를 많이 맺는 것, 이것으로 내 [아버지]께서 영광을 받으시나니 이로써 너희가 내 제자가 되리라.

8 "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

9 [아버지]께서 나를 사랑하신 것 같이 나도 너희를 사랑하였으니 너희는 내 사랑 안에 거하라.

9 "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.

10 내가 내 [아버지]의 명령들을 지켰고 그분의 사랑 안에 거하는 것 같이 너희도 내 명령들을 지키면 내 사랑 안에 거하리라.

10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.

11 내가 너희에게 이 일들을 말한 것은 내 기쁨이 너희 안에 머물러 있어 너희 기쁨이 충만하게 하려 함이니라.

11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

12 내 명령은 곧 내가 너희를 사랑한 것 같이 너희도 서로 사랑하라 하는 이것이니라.

12 "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

13 아무에게도 자기 친구들을 위해 자기 생명을 내놓는 것, 이것보다 더 큰 사랑은 없나니

13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.

14 무엇이든지 내가 너희에게 명령하는 것을 너희가 행하면 너희가 나의 친구니라.

14 "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

15 이제부터는 내가 너희를 종이라 하지 아니하리니 종은 자기 주인이 하는 것을 알지 못하느니라. 오히려 내가 너희를 친구라 하였나니 이는 내가 내 [아버지]께 들은 모든 것을 너희에게 알려 주었기 때문이라.

15 "No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

16 너희가 나를 택하지 아니하고 내가 너희를 택하여 세웠나니 이것은 너희가 가서 열매를 맺게 하고 또 너희 열매가 남아 있게 하려 함이요, 또 너희가 내 이름으로 [아버지]께 무엇을 구하든지 그분께서 그것을 너희에게 주게 하려 함이라.

16 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

17 내가 이것들을 너희에게 명령하는 것은 너희가 서로 사랑하게 하려 함이니라.

17 "These things I command you, that you love one another.

18 세상이 너희를 미워하면 그것이 너희를 미워하기 전에 나를 미워한 줄 너희가 아느니라.

18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.

19 너희가 세상에 속하였으면 세상이 자기 것을 사랑하였으리라. 그러나 너희가 세상에 속하지 아니하고 도리어 내가 세상에서 너희를 택하였으므로 세상이 너희를 미워하느니라.

19 "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

20 내가 너희에게 한 말 즉, 종이 자기 주인보다 크지 못하니라, 한 말을 기억하라. 그들이 나를 핍박하였으면 너희도 핍박할 것이요 내 말을 지켰으면 너희 말도 지키리라.

20 "Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

21 그러나 그들이 내 이름으로 인하여 이 모든 일을 너희에게 행하리니 이는 그들이 나를 보내신 그분을 알지 못하기 때문이라.

21 "But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.

22 내가 와서 그들에게 말하지 아니하였더라면 그들에게 죄가 없었으려니와 지금은 그들의 죄를 가려 줄 것이 그들에게 없느니라.

22 "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

23 나를 미워하는 자는 내 [아버지]도 미워하느니라.

23 "He who hates Me hates My Father also.

24 내가 아무도 행하지 못한 일들을 그들 가운데서 행하지 아니하였더라면 그들에게 죄가 없었으려니와 지금은 그들이 나와 내 [아버지]를 다 보았고 또 미워하였느니라.

24 "If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.

25 그러나 이것이 일어나는 것은 그들의 율법에 기록된바, 그들이 까닭 없이 나를 미워하였나이다, 한 말씀이 성취되게 하려 함이니라.

25 "But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.'

26 그러나 내가 [아버지]로부터 너희에게 보낼 [위로자] 곧 [아버지]로부터 나오는 진리의 [영]께서 오실 때에 그분께서 나에 대해 증언하실 것이요,

26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.

27 너희도 처음부터 나와 함께 있었으므로 증언하리라.

27 "And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

16.

1 내가 이 일들을 너희에게 말한 것은 너희가 실족하지 아니하게 하려 함이니라.

1 "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.

2 그들이 너희를 회당들에서 내쫓을 것이요 참으로 때가 이르면 너희를 죽이는 자마다 자기가 하나님을 섬긴다고 생각하리라.

2 "They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.

3 그들이 너희에게 이 일들을 행하리니 이는 그들이 [아버지]와 나를 알지 못하였기 때문이라.

3 "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.

4 그러나 내가 너희에게 이 일들을 말한 것은 그때가 올 때에 내가 너희에게 이미 그것들을 일러 주었음을 너희가 기억하게 하려 함이라. 또 처음에 내가 이 일들을 너희에게 말하지 아니한 것은 내가 너희와 함께 있었기 때문이니라.

4 "But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.

5 그러나 지금 내가 내 길로 나를 보내신 분에게로 가는데 너희 중에서 아무도, 어디로 가시나이까? 하고 내게 묻지 아니하고

5 "But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'

6 도리어 내가 이 일들을 너희에게 말하였으므로 너희 마음에 근심이 가득하였도다.

6 "But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

7 그럼에도 불구하고 내가 너희에게 진실을 말하노니 내가 떠나가는 것이 너희에게 유익하니라. 내가 떠나가지 아니하면 [위로자]께서 너희에게 오지 아니하시리라. 그러나 내가 떠나면 내가 그분을 너희에게 보내리니

7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

8 그분께서 오셔서 죄에 대하여, 의에 대하여, 심판에 대하여 세상을 꾸짖으시리라.

8 "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 죄에 대하여라 함은 그들이 나를 믿지 아니하기 때문이요,

9 "of sin, because they do not believe in Me;

10 의에 대하여라 함은 내가 내 [아버지]께로 가므로 너희가 더 이상 나를 보지 못하기 때문이요,

10 "of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

11 심판에 대하여라 함은 이 세상의 통치자가 심판을 받았기 때문이라.

11 "of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

12 내가 아직 너희에게 말할 것이 많으나 지금은 너희가 그것들을 감당하지 못하리라.

12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

13 그러나 그분 곧 진리의 [영]께서 오시면 너희를 모든 진리 가운데로 인도하시리니 그분은 스스로 말씀하지 아니하시고 무엇이든지 자기가 들을 것만을 말씀하시며 앞으로 일어날 일들을 너희에게 보이시리라.

13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

14 그분께서 나를 영화롭게 하시리니 이는 그분께서 내게서 받아 그것을 너희에게 보이실 것이기 때문이라.

14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

15 [아버지]께 있는 모든 것은 내 것이니라. 그러므로 내가 말하기를, 그분께서 내게서 가져다가 그것을 너희에게 보이시리라, 하였노라.

15 "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

16 조금 있으면 너희가 나를 보지 못하겠고 다시 조금 있으면 너희가 나를 보리니 이는 내가 [아버지]께로 가기 때문이라, 하시니라.

16 "A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father."

17 이에 그분의 제자들 중의 몇 사람이 자기들끼리 이르되, 그분께서 우리에게, 조금 있으면 너희가 나를 보지 못하겠고 다시 조금 있으면 너희가 나를 보리니 이는 내가 [아버지]께로 가기 때문이라, 하시는데 이것이 무슨 말씀이냐? 하고

17 Then some of His disciples said among themselves, "What is this that He says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?"

18 그러므로 이르되, 그분께서, 조금 있으면, 하고 말씀하시는데 이것이 무슨 말씀이냐? 그분께서 무엇을 말씀하시는지 우리가 알지 못하겠노라, 하거늘

18 They said therefore, "What is this that He says, 'A little while'? We do not know what He is saying."

19 이제 예수님께서 그들이 자기에게 묻고자 하는 것을 아시고 그들에게 이르시되, 내가, 조금 있으면 너희가 나를 보지 못하겠고 다시 조금 있으면 너희가 나를 보리라, 하고 말한 것에 대해 너희가 너희끼리 문의하느냐?

19 Now Jesus knew that they desired to ask Him, and He said to them, "Are you inquiring among yourselves about what I said, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'?

20 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 너희는 슬피 울며 애통할 터이나 세상은 기뻐하리라. 또 너희는 근심할 터이나 너희 근심이 기쁨으로 변하리라.

20 "Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

21 여자가 산고를 겪으면 자기 때가 이르렀으므로 근심하거니와 아이를 낳으면 곧바로 세상에 사람이 난 기쁨으로 인해 다시는 그 고통을 기억하지 아니하느니라.

21 "A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.

22 그러므로 지금은 너희에게 근심이 있으나 내가 다시 너희를 보리니 너희 마음이 기뻐할 것이요, 아무도 너희에게서 너희 기쁨을 빼앗지 못하리라.

22 "Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

23 그 날에는 너희가 아무것도 내게 구하지 아니하리라. 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 너희가 무엇이든지 내 이름으로 [아버지]께 구하면 그분께서 그것을 너희에게 주시리라.

23 "And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.

24 지금까지는 너희가 내 이름으로 아무것도 구하지 아니하였으나 구하라. 그리하면 너희가 받으리니 이로써 너희 기쁨이 충만하리라.

24 "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

25 내가 이 일들을 비유로 너희에게 말하였거니와 때가 이르면 내가 다시는 비유로 너희에게 말하지 아니하고 [아버지]에 대하여 분명히 너희에게 보이리니

25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.

26 그 날에는 너희가 내 이름으로 구하리라. 내가 너희를 위해 [아버지]께 기도하겠다고 너희에게 말하지 아니하노니

26 "In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you;

27 이는 너희가 나를 사랑하였으며 또 내가 하나님으로부터 나온 줄 믿었으므로 [아버지]께서 친히 너희를 사랑하시기 때문이라.

27 "for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.

28 내가 [아버지]로부터 나와 세상에 왔고 다시 세상을 떠나 [아버지]께로 가노라, 하시니라.

28 "I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father."

29 그분의 제자들이 그분께 이르되, 보소서, 이제는 주께서 분명하게 말씀하시고 아무 비유도 말씀하지 아니하시니

29 His disciples said to Him, "See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech!

30 이제야 우리가 주께서 모든 것을 아시고 또 아무도 주께 여쭐 필요가 없는 줄 확신하나이다. 이로써 주께서 하나님으로부터 오신 줄을 우리가 믿나이다, 하매

30 "Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God."

31 예수님께서 그들에게 응답하시되, 이제는 너희가 믿느냐?

31 Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe?

32 보라, 너희가 흩어지되 각각 자기 길로 흩어지고 나를 혼자 버려둘 때가 오나니 참으로 이제 왔도다. 그러나 내가 혼자 있지 아니하니 이는 [아버지]께서 나와 함께 계시기 때문이라.
