11.

1 <예수께서 왕으로 예루살렘에 입성하시다 (마 21:1-11;눅 19:28-40;요 12:12-19)> 그들이 예루살렘에 가까이 와서 올리브 산 근처 벳바게와 베다니에 이르렀을 때 예수께서 제자 두 명을 보내시며

1 As Jesus and his disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two of them on ahead.

2 말씀하셨습니다. "저기 보이는 마을로 들어가라. 그곳에 들어가 보면 아직 아무도 탄 적이 없는 새끼 나귀 하나가 매여 있을 것이다. 그 나귀를 풀어서 이리로 끌고 와라.

2 "Go into that village over there," he told them. "As soon as you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

3 만약 누가 '왜 이러느냐?'고 물으면 '주께서 필요하시니 쓰고 제자리에 갖다 놓겠다?'고 하라."

3 If anyone asks, 'What are you doing?' just say, 'The Lord needs it and will return it soon.'"

4 그들이 가서 보니 길거리 어느 문 앞에 새끼 나귀가 매여 있었습니다. 그들이 나귀를 풀고 있는데

4 The two disciples left and found the colt standing in the street, tied outside the front door.

5 거기 서 있던 사람들이 물었습니다. "뭘 하는 것이오? 왜 나귀를 풀고 있소?"

5 As they were untying it, some bystanders demanded, "What are you doing, untying that colt?"

6 그들이 예수께서 일러 주신 대로 대답하자 그 사람들이 허락해 주었습니다.

6 They said what Jesus had told them to say, and they were permitted to take it.

7 그들이 나귀를 예수께 끌고 와서 자기들의 겉옷을 그 위에 얹어 드리자 예수께서 나귀를 타셨습니다.

7 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it, and he sat on it.

8 많은 사람들이 길 위에 겉옷을 깔아 드렸고 또 어떤 사람들은 들에서 나뭇가지를 꺾어 와 길에 깔기도 했습니다.

8 Many in the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others spread leafy branches they had cut in the fields.

9 앞서 가는 사람들과 뒤따라가는 사람들이 외쳤습니다. "호산나! 복이 있으리로다! 주의 이름으로 오시는 분이여!"

9 Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, "Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD!

10 "복이 있도다! 다가오는 우리 조상 다윗의 나라여! 지극히 높은 곳에서 호산나!"

10 Blessings on the coming Kingdom of our ancestor David! Praise God in highest heaven!"

11 예수께서 예루살렘에 도착하시자 성전으로 들어가셨습니다. 예수께서는 모든 것을 둘러보시고는 이미 날이 저물었으므로 열두 제자들과 함께 베다니로 나가셨습니다.

11 So Jesus came to Jerusalem and went into the Temple. After looking around carefully at everything, he left because it was late in the afternoon. Then he returned to Bethany with the twelve disciples.

12 <예수께서 무화과나무를 저주하시고 성전을 정화하시다 (마 21:12-13,18-22; 눅 19:45-48;요 2:13-22)> 이튿날 베다니를 떠나시려는데 예수께서 배가 고프셨습니다.

12 The next morning as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry.

13 예수께서 멀리 잎이 무성한 무화과나무를 보시고는 열매가 있을까 해서 가 보셨습니다. 가까이 다가가 보시니 잎만 무성할 뿐 무화과 열매는 없었습니다. 무화과 철이 아니었기 때문입니다.

13 He noticed a fig tree in full leaf a little way off, so he went over to see if he could find any figs. But there were only leaves because it was too early in the season for fruit.

14 예수께서 그 나무에게 말씀하셨습니다. "이제부터 어느 누구도 네 열매를 따 먹지 못할 것이다." 예수의 제자들도 이 말씀을 들었습니다.

14 Then Jesus said to the tree, "May no one ever eat your fruit again!" And the disciples heard him say it.

15 예루살렘에 도착하시자마자 예수께서 성전으로 들어가 거기서 장사하던 사람들을 내쫓기 시작하셨습니다. 예수께서는 돈 바꿔 주는 사람들의 상과 비둘기를 파는 사람들의 의자를 둘러엎으셨습니다.

15 When they arrived back in Jerusalem, Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out the people buying and selling animals for sacrifices. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves,

16 그리고 어느 누구라도 장사할 물건들을 들고 성전 안으로 지나다니지 못하게 하셨습니다.

16 and he stopped everyone from using the Temple as a marketplace.

17 그리고 예수께서 사람들을 가르치시며 말씀하셨습니다. "'내 집은 모든 민족들이 기도하는 집이라 불릴 것이다' 라고 성경에 기록돼 있지 않았느냐? 그런데 너희는 이곳을 '강도의 소굴'로 만들고 말았다."

17 He said to them, "The Scriptures declare, 'My Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations,' but you have turned it into a den of thieves."

18 이 말을 듣고 난 대제사장들과 율법학자들은 예수를 죽일 방도를 궁리하기 시작했습니다. 그들은 모든 사람들이 예수의 가르치심에 놀라는 것을 보고 예수를 두려워했던 것입니다.

18 When the leading priests and teachers of religious law heard what Jesus had done, they began planning how to kill him. But they were afraid of him because the people were so amazed at his teaching.

19 저녁때가 되자 예수와 제자들은 성 밖으로 나갔습니다.

19 That evening Jesus and the disciples left the city.

20 이튿날 아침, 예수와 제자들이 지나가다 뿌리째 말라 버린 무화과나무를 보았습니다.

20 The next morning as they passed by the fig tree he had cursed, the disciples noticed it had withered from the roots up.

21 베드로는 생각이 나서 예수께 말했습니다. "선생님, 보십시오! 저주하셨던 무화과나무가 말라 버렸습니다."

21 Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, "Look, Rabbi! The fig tree you cursed has withered and died!"

22 예수께서 대답하셨습니다. "하나님을 믿어라.

22 Then Jesus said to the disciples, "Have faith in God.

23 내가 너희에게 진실로 말한다. 누구든지 저 산에게 '들려서 바다에 빠져라!' 하고 마음에 의심하지 않고 말한 대로 될 줄 믿으면 그대로 이루어질 것이다.

23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.

24 그러므로 내가 너희에게 말한다. 무엇이든지 너희가 기도하고 간구하는 것은 이미 받은 줄로 믿으라. 그러면 너희에게 그대로 이루어질 것이다.

24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours.

25 서서 기도할 때에 어떤 사람과 등진 일이 있다면 그 사람을 용서해 주라. 그러면 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서도 너희 죄를 용서해 주실 것이다."

25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too."

27 <예수의 권세를 두고 말하다 (마 21:23-27;눅 20:1-8)> 그들이 다시 예루살렘으로 들어갔습니다. 예수께서 성전을 거닐고 계시는데 대제사장들과 율법학자들과 장로들이 다가와서

27 Again they entered Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking through the Temple area, the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders came up to him.

28 물었습니다. "당신이 무슨 권세로 이런 일을 하는 것이오? 누가 이런 권세를 주었소?"

28 They demanded, "By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right to do them?"

29 예수께서 대답하셨습니다. "나도 한 가지 물어보겠다. 대답해 보라. 그러면 내가 무슨 권세로 이런 일을 행하는지 말해 주겠다.

29 "I'll tell you by what authority I do these things if you answer one question," Jesus replied.

30 요한의 세례가 하늘로부터 왔느냐, 사람으로부터 왔느냐? 말해 보라."

30 "Did John's authority to baptize come from heaven, or was it merely human? Answer me!"

31 그들은 자기들끼리 의논하며 말했습니다. "만약 우리가 '하늘로부터 왔다'라고 하면 저 사람이 '그러면 왜 요한을 믿지 않았느냐?'라고 할 것이다.

31 They talked it over among themselves. "If we say it was from heaven, he will ask why we didn't believe John.

32 그렇다고 해서 '사람으로부터 왔다'라고 할 수도 없지 않는가?" 많은 사람들이 요한을 진정한 예언자로 믿고 있었기 때문에 그들은 백성들이 두려웠던 것입니다.

32 But do we dare say it was merely human?" For they were afraid of what the people would do, because everyone believed that John was a prophet.

33 그래서 그들은 예수께 "잘 모르겠소"라고 대답했습니다. 예수께서 말씀하셨습니다. "그렇다면 나도 무슨 권세로 이런 일을 하는지 너희에게 말하지 않겠다."

33 So they finally replied, "We don't know." And Jesus responded, "Then I won't tell you by what authority I do these things."

1 <소작인의 비유 (마 21:33-46;눅 20:9-19)> 예수께서 그들에게 비유를 들어 말씀하기 시작하셨습니다. "어떤 사람이 포도원을 하나 만들어 울타리를 치고 땅을 파서 포도즙 짜는 틀 자리를 만들고 망대를 세웠다. 그러고는 어떤 농부들에게 포도원을 세주고 멀리 떠났다.

1 Then Jesus began teaching them with stories： "A man planted a vineyard. He built a wall around it, dug a pit for pressing out the grape juice, and built a lookout tower. Then he leased the vineyard to tenant farmers and moved to another country.

2 수확할 때가 되자 주인은 포도원에서 난 소출 가운데 얼마를 받아 오라고 종을 농부들에게 보냈다.

2 At the time of the grape harvest, he sent one of his servants to collect his share of the crop.

3 그런데 그들은 그 종을 잡아다가 때리고는 빈손으로 돌려보냈다.

3 But the farmers grabbed the servant, beat him up, and sent him back empty-handed.

4 그러자 주인은 그들에게 다른 종을 보냈다. 그러나 그들은 그 종의 머리를 때리고 모욕했다.

4 The owner then sent another servant, but they insulted him and beat him over the head.

5 주인은 또 다른 종을 보냈지만 그들은 그 종을 죽여 버렸다. 그러고 나서도 주인은 계속해서 다른 종들을 많이 보냈는데 농부들은 그 종들을 때리고 더러는 죽이기도 했다.

5 The next servant he sent was killed. Others he sent were either beaten or killed,

6 주인에게는 이제 단 한 사람, 바로 사랑하는 자기 아들이 남아 있었다. 그는 마지막으로 아들을 보내면서 '그들이 내 아들은 존중하겠지'라고 말했다.

6 until there was only one left?his son whom he loved dearly. The owner finally sent him, thinking, 'Surely they will respect my son.'

7 그러나 농부들은 자기들끼리 수군거렸다. '이 사람은 상속자다. 가서 그를 죽이자. 그러면 그 유산은 우리 차지가 될 것이다.'

7 "But the tenant farmers said to one another, 'Here comes the heir to this estate. Let's kill him and get the estate for ourselves!'

8 그리하여 농부들은 아들을 데려다가 죽이고 포도원 밖으로 내던져 버렸다.

8 So they grabbed him and murdered him and threw his body out of the vineyard.

9 이렇게 되면 포도원 주인이 어떻게 하겠느냐? 그가 와서 그 농부들을 죽이고 다른 사람들에게 포도원을 줄 것이다.

9 "What do you suppose the owner of the vineyard will do?" Jesus asked. "I'll tell you?he will come and kill those farmers and lease the vineyard to others.

10 너희는 성경에서 이런 말씀을 읽어 보지 못했느냐? '건축자들이 버린 돌이 집 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 됐다.

10 Didn't you ever read this in the Scriptures? 'The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.

11 주께서 이렇게 하셨으니 우리 눈에 놀랍게 보일 뿐이다.'"

11 This is the LORD's doing, and it is wonderful to see.'"

12 그러자 그들은 예수께서 말씀하신 이 비유가 자기들을 가리켜 말씀하시는 것임을 알아차리고 예수를 체포할 방도를 모색했습니다. 그러나 백성들을 두려워해 예수를 그대로 두고 가 버렸습니다.

12 The religious leaders wanted to arrest Jesus because they realized he was telling the story against them - they were the wicked farmers. But they were afraid of the crowd, so they left him and went away.

13 <가이사에게 세금을 바치는 것 (마 22:15-22;눅 20:20-26)> 그들은 예수의 말씀을 트집 잡아 보려고 바리새파 사람들과 헤롯 당원들을 예수께로 보냈습니다.

13 Later the leaders sent some Pharisees and supporters of Herod to trap Jesus into saying something for which he could be arrested.

14 그들이 예수께 다가와 말했습니다. "선생님, 우리는 선생님을 참된 분으로 알고 있습니다. 선생님은 사람을 겉모습으로 판단하지 않기 때문에 사람으로 인해 동요되지 않고 하나님의 진리를 참되게 가르치신다고 들었습니다. 그런데 우리가 가이사에게 세금을 내는 것이 옳습니까, 옳지 않습니까?

14 "Teacher," they said, "we know how honest you are. You are impartial and don't play favorites. You teach the way of God truthfully. Now tell us?is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?

15 우리가 세금을 내야 합니까, 내지 말아야 합니까?" 예수께서는 위선적인 그들의 속셈을 다 아시고 말씀하셨습니다. "왜 너희가 나를 시험하느냐? 데나리온 동전 하나를 가져와 내게 보이라."

15 Should we pay them, or shouldn't we?" Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said, "Why are you trying to trap me? Show me a Roman coin, and I'll tell you."

16 그들이 동전 하나를 가져오자 예수께서 그들에게 물으셨습니다. "동전에 있는 얼굴과 새겨진 글자가 누구의 것이냐?" 그들은 "가이사의 것입니다" 하고 대답했습니다.

16 When they handed it to him, he asked, "Whose picture and title are stamped on it?" "Caesar's," they replied.

17 그러자 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨습니다. "가이사의 것은 가이사에게 바치고 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바치라." 그들은 예수께 몹시 감탄했습니다.

17 "Well, then," Jesus said, "give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God." His reply completely amazed them.

18 <부활 때 혼인 관계 (마 22:23-33;눅 20:27-40)> 부활이 없다고 주장하는 사두개파 사람들이 예수께 와서 물었습니다.

18 Then Jesus was approached by some Sadducees?religious leaders who say there is no resurrection from the dead. They posed this question.

19 "선생님, 모세가 우리를 위해 쓰기를 '만약 형이 자식 없이 아내만 남겨 놓고 죽으면 동생이 그 형수와 결혼해서 형의 대를 이을 자식을 낳아야 한다'고 했습니다.

19 "Teacher, Moses gave us a law that if a man dies, leaving a wife without children, his brother should marry the widow and have a child who will carry on the brother's name.

20 그런데 일곱 형제들이 있었습니다. 첫째가 결혼을 했는데 자식 없이 죽었습니다.

20 Well, suppose there were seven brothers. The oldest one married and then died without children.

21 둘째가 그 형수와 결혼을 했는데 그도 역시 자식 없이 죽었습니다. 셋째도 마찬가지였습니다.

21 So the second brother married the widow, but he also died without children. Then the third brother married her.

22 그렇게 일곱 형제 모두가 자식 없이 죽었고 결국 그 여자도 죽었습니다.

22 This continued with all seven of them, and still there were no children. Last of all, the woman also died.

23 일곱 형제들이 다 이 여자와 결혼을 했으니 부활할 때에 이 여자는 누구의 아내가 되겠습니까?"

23 So tell us, whose wife will she be in the resurrection? For all seven were married to her."

24 예수께서 대답하셨습니다. "너희가 성경도 모르고 하나님의 능력도 몰라서 그렇게 잘못 생각하는 것이 아니냐?

24 Jesus replied, "Your mistake is that you don't know the Scriptures, and you don't know the power of God.

25 죽은 사람들이 살아날 때에는 시집도 가지 않고 장가도 가는 일이 없다. 그들은 마치 하늘에 있는 천사들같이 될 것이다.

25 For when the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. In this respect they will be like the angels in heaven.

26 죽은 사람의 부활에 대해서는 모세의 책에 가시떨기나무가 나오는 곳에서 하나님께서 모세에게 말씀하시기를 '나는 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님이다' 하신 것을 읽어 보지 못했느냐?

26 "But now, as to whether the dead will be raised - haven't you ever read about this in the writings of Moses, in the story of the burning bush? Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, God said to Moses, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.'

27 하나님께서는 죽은 사람들의 하나님이 아니라 살아 있는 사람들의 하나님이시다. 너희가 크게 잘못 생각하고 있다."

27 So he is the God of the living, not the dead. You have made a serious error."

28 <가장 중요한 계명 (마 22:34-40;눅 10:25-28)> 율법학자들 가운데 한 사람이 와서 그들이 논쟁하는 것을 들었습니다. 예수께서 그들에게 대답을 잘하시는 것을 보고 예수께 물었습니다. "모든 계명들 가운데 어떤 것이 가장 중요한 계명입니까?"

28 One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"

29 예수께서 대답하셨습니다. "첫째로 중요한 계명은 이것이다. '이스라엘아, 들으라! 주 우리 하나님은 오직 한 분이시다.

29 Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this： 'Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD.

30 네 마음과 네 목숨과 네 뜻과 네 힘을 다해 주 네 하나님을 사랑하라' 하는 것이고

30 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.'

31 두 번째로 중요한 계명은 이것이다. '네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라' 하는 것이다. 이것보다 더 중요한 계명은 없다."

31 The second is equally important： 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."

32 그 사람이 대답했습니다. "선생님, 옳은 말씀입니다. 하나님은 오직 한 분이시고 하나님 한 분 외에는 다른 신이 없다는 말씀이 옳습니다.

32 The teacher of religious law replied, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth by saying that there is only one God and no other.

33 온 마음과 모든 지혜와 온 힘을 다해 하나님을 사랑하는 것과 이웃을 자기 몸같이 사랑하는 것이 모든 번제물과 희생제물보다 더 중요합니다."

33 And I know it is important to love him with all my heart and all my understanding and all my strength, and to love my neighbor as myself. This is more important than to offer all of the burnt offerings and sacrifices required in the law."

34 예수께서는 그가 지혜롭게 대답하는 것을 보시고, "너는 하나님 나라로부터 멀리 있지 않구나"라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그 뒤로는 감히 예수께 더 묻는 사람이 없었습니다.

34 Realizing how much the man understood, Jesus said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God." And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.

35 <그리스도가 누구의 자손인가? (마 22:41-46;눅 20:41-44)> 예수께서 성전에서 가르치시면서 물으셨습니다. "어째서 율법학자들이 그리스도를 다윗의 자손이라고 하느냐?

35 Later, as Jesus was teaching the people in the Temple, he asked, "Why do the teachers of religious law claim that the Messiah is the son of David?

36 다윗 자신이 성령으로 감동돼 이렇게 친히 말했다. '주께서 내 주께 말씀하셨다. 내가 네 원수들을 네 발아래 굴복시킬 때까지 너는 내 오른편에 앉아 있어라.'

36 For David himself, speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said, 'The LORD said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.'

37 다윗 자신도 그분을 '주'라 부르는데 어떻게 그리스도가 다윗의 자손이 될 수 있겠느냐?" 많은 사람들이 예수의 말씀을 기쁘게 들었습니다.

37 Since David himself called the Messiah 'my Lord,' how can the Messiah be his son?" The large crowd listened to him with great delight.

38 <율법학자들에 대한 경고 (마 23:1-36;눅 20:45-47)> 예수께서 가르치시면서 말씀하셨습니다. "율법학자들을 조심하여라. 이들은 긴 옷을 입고 다니기를 좋아하고 시장에서 인사받기를 좋아한다.

38 Jesus also taught： "Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces.

39 또 회당에서 높은 자리와 잔치에서 윗자리에 앉기를 좋아한다.

39 And how they love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the head table at banquets.

40 그들은 과부의 집을 삼키고 남에게 보이려고 길게 기도한다. 이런 사람들은 더 큰 심판을 받을 것이다."

40 Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and then pretend to be pious by making long prayers in public. Because of this, they will be more severely punished."

41 <가난한 과부의 헌금 (눅 21:1-4)> 예수께서는 성전 헌금함 맞은편에 앉아 사람들이 헌금함에 돈 넣는 것을 보고 계셨습니다. 많은 부자들이 큰돈을 넣었습니다.

41 Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts.

42 그런데 가난한 과부 한 사람이 다가오더니 렙돈 동전 두 개, 곧 1고드란트를 넣었습니다.

42 Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins.

43 예수께서 제자들을 불러서 말씀하셨습니다. "내가 너희에게 진실로 말한다. 이 가난한 과부가 어느 누구보다 더 많은 헌금을 드렸다.

43 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions.

44 그들은 모두 풍족한 가운데서 드렸지만 이 여인은 가난한 가운데서도 자신이 가지고 있던 모든 것, 곧 자기 생활비 전부를 드렸다."

44 For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on."
