14.

1 이고니움에서 그들 둘이 함께 유대인들의 회당에 들어가 그와 같이 말하니 유대인들과 그리스인들의 큰 무리가 믿더라.

1 Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed.

2 그러나 믿지 아니하는 유대인들이 이방인들을 선동하여 그 형제들에게 악한 생각을 품게 하니라.

2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren.

3 그러므로 그들이 오랫동안 머물며 [주] 안에서 담대하게 말하매 그분께서 그들의 손으로 표적들과 이적들을 행하게 허락하사 자신의 은혜의 말씀에 증거를 주시니라.

3 Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

4 그러나 그 도시의 무리가 나뉘어 일부는 유대인들의 편을 들고 일부는 사도들의 편을 들더라.

4 But the multitude of the city was divided: part sided with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

5 이방인들과 또 유대인들이 자기들의 치리자들과 함께 악의를 품고 그들을 대하며 돌로 치려고 달려들매

5 And when a violent attempt was made by both the Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to abuse and stone them,

6 그들이 그것을 알고 루가오니아의 도시인 루스드라와 더베와 주변 지역으로 도피하여

6 they became aware of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region.

7 거기서 복음을 선포하니라.

7 And they were preaching the gospel there.

8 ¶ 루스드라에 발이 허약한 어떤 사람이 앉아 있었는데 그는 자기 어머니 태에서부터 불구가 되어 결코 걸은 적이 없더라.

8 And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother's womb, who had never walked.

9 바로 그 사람이 바울이 말하는 것을 들었는데 바울이 그를 똑바로 쳐다보고 병 고침을 받을 만한 믿음이 그에게 있음을 알고는

9 This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed,

10 큰 소리로 이르되, 네 발로 똑바로 일어서라, 하니 그 사람이 뛰고 걸으니라.

10 said with a loud voice, "Stand up straight on your feet!" And he leaped and walked.

11 사람들이 바울이 행한 일을 보고 목소리를 높여 루가오니아 말로 이르되, 신들이 사람들의 모양으로 우리에게 내려왔다, 하며

11 Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!"

12 바나바는 주피터라 하고 바울은 주로 말하는 사람이므로 머큐리라 하더라.

12 And Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.

13 이에 그들의 도시 앞에 있던 주피터의 제사장이 소와 화환들을 가지고 성문들에 이르러 사람들과 함께 희생물을 드리려 하니

13 Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, intending to sacrifice with the multitudes.

14 사도들 곧 바나바와 바울이 이 말을 듣고 자기들의 옷을 찢으며 사람들 가운데로 달려 들어가 소리 질러

14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out

15 이르되, 선생들아, 어찌하여 너희가 이런 일들을 행하느냐? 우리도 너희와 똑같은 성정을 가진 사람들이라. 너희에게 복음을 선포하는 것은 너희가 이런 헛된 일들을 버리고 하늘과 땅과 바다와 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 만드신 분 곧 살아 계신 하나님께로 돌아오게 하려 함이라.

15 and saying, "Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,

16 그분께서 지나간 때에는 모든 민족들이 자기들의 길로 걸어가도록 허락하셨으나

16 "who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 그럼에도 불구하고 선한 일을 행하시고 우리에게 하늘로부터 비를 주시며 결실의 계절을 주사 음식과 기쁨으로 우리 마음을 채워 주심으로써 증거 없이 자신을 내버려두지 아니하셨느니라, 하고

17 "Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."

18 이렇게 말하여 겨우 그 사람들을 말려 그들이 자기들에게 희생물을 드리지 못하게 하니라.

18 And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them.

19 ¶ 어떤 유대인들이 안디옥과 이고니움에서 거기로 와서 사람들을 설득하고 돌로 바울을 친 뒤 그가 죽은 줄로 생각하고는 도시 밖으로 그를 끌어내니라.

19 Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.

20 그러나 제자들이 그를 둘러섰을 때에 그가 일어나 도시로 들어갔다가 이튿날 바나바와 함께 더베로 떠나니라.

20 However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 그들이 그 도시에 복음을 선포하여 많은 사람을 가르치고 다시 루스드라와 이고니움과 안디옥으로 돌아가

21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

22 제자들의 혼을 굳건하게 하며 그들을 권면하여 믿음 안에 거하게 하고 또 우리가 반드시 많은 환난을 거쳐 하나님의 왕국에 들어가야 하리라 하더라.

22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God."

23 그들이 각 교회에서 그들을 위해 장로들을 임명하고 금식하며 기도하고 자기들이 믿는 [주]께 그들을 맡기며

23 So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

24 비시디아를 두루 지난 뒤에 밤빌리아에 이르러

24 And after they had passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 말씀을 버가에서 선포하고 앗달리아로 내려가

25 Now when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

26 거기서 배 타고 안디옥을 향해 떠나니라. 이곳은 그들이 이룬 그 일을 위하여 전에 그들을 하나님의 은혜에 맡겼던 곳이더라.

26 From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had completed.

27 그들이 도착하여 교회를 함께 모아 하나님께서 자기들과 함께 행하신 모든 일과 또 그분께서 이방인들에게 믿음의 문을 열어 주신 것을 되풀이하여 말하고

27 Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

28 거기서 제자들과 함께 오랫동안 머무니라.

28 So they stayed there a long time with the disciples.

15.

1 유대로부터 내려온 어떤 사람들이 형제들을 가르치며 이르되, 너희가 모세의 관례대로 할례를 받지 아니하면 능히 구원을 받지 못하리라, 하니

1 And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, "Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved."

2 그러므로 바울과 바나바와 그 사람들 사이에 작지 않은 분쟁과 논쟁이 일어나니라. 그들이 이 문제로 인하여 바울과 바나바와 자기들 중의 다른 몇 사람을 예루살렘에 있던 사도들과 장로들에게 올려 보내기로 결정하니라.

2 Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about this question.

3 교회가 그들을 그들의 길로 내보내매 그들이 베니게와 사마리아를 지나며 이방인들의 회심을 밝히 알려 모든 형제들에게 큰 기쁨을 끼치니라.

3 So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren.

4 그들이 예루살렘에 이르러 교회와 사도들과 장로들에게 영접을 받고 하나님께서 자기들과 함께 행하신 모든 일을 밝히 말하니라.

4 And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them.

5 그러나 바리새인들의 분파에 속한 어떤 믿는 자들이 일어나 이르되, 그들에게 할례를 행하고 모세의 율법을 지키라고 명령하는 것이 필요하다, 하니라.

5 But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, "It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses."

6 ¶ 사도들과 장로들이 이 일을 깊이 생각해 보려고 함께 오니라.

6 Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter.

7 많은 논쟁이 있은 뒤에 베드로가 일어나 그들에게 이르되, 사람들아 형제들아, 너희가 알거니와 이방인들이 내 입을 통해 복음의 말씀을 듣고 믿게 하려고 하나님께서 매우 오래 전에 우리 가운데서 나를 택하시고

7 And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: "Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.

8 또 마음을 아시는 하나님께서 우리에게 [성령님]을 주신 것 같이 그들에게도 주사 그들에게 증언하시며

8 "So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us,

9 믿음으로 그들의 마음을 정결하게 하사 우리와 그들 사이에 아무 차별도 두지 아니하셨느니라.

9 "and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

10 그런데 이제 너희가 어찌하여 하나님을 시험하여 우리 조상들이나 우리나 능히 메지 못하던 멍에를 제자들의 목에 두려 하느냐?

10 "Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11 오직 우리는 그들과 마찬가지로 [주] 예수 그리스도의 은혜로 구원받을 줄을 믿노라, 하니라.

11 "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they."

12 ¶ 이에 온 무리가 조용히 하고 바나바와 바울이 하나님께서 자기들을 통하여 이방인들 가운데서 어떤 기적들과 이적들을 행하셨는지 밝히 말하는 것을 들으니라.

12 Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles.

13 ¶ 그들이 잠잠하매 야고보가 응답하여 이르되, 사람들아 형제들아, 내 말에 귀를 기울이라.

13 And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, "Men and brethren, listen to me:

14 하나님께서 처음으로 이방인들 가운데서 자신의 이름을 위하여 한 백성을 취해 내시려고 그들을 찾아가신 것을 시므온이 밝히 말하였는데

14 "Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name.

15 대언자들의 말씀들이 이것과 일치하는도다. 기록된바,

15 "And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written:

16 이 일 뒤에 내가 돌아와 다윗의 쓰러진 장막을 다시 건축하고 내가 그것의 허물어진 것을 다시 건축하며 내가 그것을 세우리니

16 'After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up;

17 이것은 사람들 중에서 남은 자들과 내 이름으로 불리는 모든 이방인들이 [주]를 찾게 하려 함이라. 이 모든 일을 행하는 [주]가 말하노라, 하셨은즉

17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the LORD who does all these things.'

18 세상이 시작된 이래로 하나님의 모든 일은 그분께서 아시느니라.

18 "Known to God from eternity are all His works.

19 그러므로 내 판결은 이러하니 곧 우리가 이방인들 가운데서 하나님께 돌아온 자들을 괴롭게 하지 말고

19 "Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God,

20 다만 그들에게 글을 써서 그들이 우상들의 더러운 것과 음행과 목매어 죽인 것과 피를 멀리하게 하자는 것이라.

20 "but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood.

21 옛적부터 모세에게는 각 도시에서 그를 선포하는 자들이 있어 안식일마다 회당들에서 모세의 글을 읽느니라, 하더라.

21 "For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath."

22 이에 사도들과 장로들이 온 교회와 더불어 자기들의 동료 중에서 택한 사람들을 바울과 바나바와 함께 안디옥으로 보내는 것을 기쁘게 여겼는데 그들은 곧 형제들 가운데 주요 인물인 바사바라 하는 유다와 실라더라.

22 Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren.

23 그들이 그들 편에 이렇게 편지를 쓰니라. 사도들과 장로들과 형제들은 안디옥과 시리아와 길리기아에 있는 이방인들에 속한 형제들에게 문안하노라.

23 They wrote this letter by them: The apostles, the elders, and the brethren, To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings.

24 우리에게서 나간 어떤 자들이 말들로 너희를 괴롭게 하고 너희 혼을 뒤엎으며 이르기를, 너희가 반드시 할례를 받고 율법을 지켜야 한다, 하였다는 말을 우리가 들었으나 우리는 그들에게 그런 명령을 준 적이 없으므로

24 Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, "You must be circumcised and keep the law"--to whom we gave no such commandment--

25 한마음으로 모여서 우리가 사랑하는 바나바와 바울과 함께 택한 사람들을 너희에게로 보내는 것을 좋게 여겼느니라.

25 it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

26 그들은 우리 [주] 예수 그리스도의 이름을 위하여 생명의 위험을 무릅쓴 사람들이니라.

26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27 그러므로 우리가 유다와 실라를 보내었으니 그들도 너희에게 같은 것들을 입으로 전하리라.

27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth.

28 [성령님]과 우리는 이 필요한 것들 외에 다른 큰 짐을 너희에게 지우지 아니하는 것을 좋게 여겼나니

28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:

29 곧 우상들에게 바친 음식과 피와 목매어 죽인 것과 음행을 너희가 멀리할지니라. 너희가 이것들을 스스로 삼가면 잘하리로다. 평안할지어다, 하였더라.

29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.

30 이처럼 그들이 떠나서 안디옥에 이르러 무리를 함께 모으고 서신을 전달하니

30 So when they were sent off, they came to Antioch; and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter.

31 무리가 그것을 읽고 위안의 말로 인하여 기뻐하더라.

31 When they had read it, they rejoiced over its encouragement.

32 유다와 실라는 자신들도 대언자이므로 많은 말로 형제들을 권면하여 그들을 굳건하게 하고

32 Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words.

33 거기서 얼마 동안 머문 뒤 형제들로부터 떠나 평안히 사도들에게 가게 되었으나

33 And after they had stayed there for a time, they were sent back with greetings from the brethren to the apostles.

34 그럼에도 불구하고 실라는 거기에 그대로 머무는 것을 기뻐하더라.

34 However, it seemed good to Silas to remain there.

35 바울과 바나바도 안디옥에 머물며 다른 많은 사람들과 함께 [주]의 말씀을 가르치고 선포하니라.

35 Paul and Barnabas also remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

36 ¶ 며칠 뒤에 바울이 바나바에게 이르되, 우리가 전에 [주]의 말씀을 선포한 모든 도시로 다시 가서 우리 형제들을 방문하고 그들이 어떻게 행하는지 알아보자, 하니

36 Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing."

37 바나바는 마가라는 이름의 요한을 데리고 가고자 결심하였으나

37 Now Barnabas was determined to take with them John called Mark.

38 바울은 밤빌리아에서 자기들을 떠나 자기들과 함께 일하러 가지 아니한 자를 데리고 가는 것이 좋지 않다고 생각하니라.

38 But Paul insisted that they should not take with them the one who had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work.

39 그들 사이에 다툼이 격렬하여 그들이 서로 갈라져 떠나니 이처럼 바나바는 마가를 데리고 배 타고 키프로스로 가고

39 Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus;

40 형제들이 바울을 하나님의 은혜에 맡기매 그는 실라를 택한 뒤에 떠나서

40 but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God.

41 시리아와 길리기아를 지나가며 교회들을 굳건하게 하니라.

41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

16.

1 그때에 그가 더베와 루스드라에 이르렀는데, 보라, 거기에 디모데라는 이름의 어떤 제자가 있더라. 그는 어떤 여인 곧 믿는 유다 여인의 아들이었으나 그의 아버지는 그리스 사람이더라.

1 Then he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain Jewish woman who believed, but his father was Greek.

2 그는 루스드라와 이고니움에 있던 형제들로부터 좋은 평판을 받더라.

2 He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium.

3 바울이 그를 데리고 가려 할 때에 그 지역에 있던 유대인들로 인하여 그를 데려다가 그에게 할례를 행하니 이는 그들이 그의 아버지가 그리스 사람인 줄 다 알았기 때문이더라.

3 Paul wanted to have him go on with him. And he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in that region, for they all knew that his father was Greek.

4 그들이 도시들을 지나갈 때에 예루살렘에 있던 사도들과 장로들이 정한 명령들을 그들에게 전달하여 지키게 하니

4 And as they went through the cities, they delivered to them the decrees to keep, which were determined by the apostles and elders at Jerusalem.

5 이에 교회들이 믿음 안에서 굳게 세워지고 날마다 수가 늘어나더라.

5 So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.

6 이제 그들이 브루기아와 갈라디아 지방을 두루 다닌 뒤에 [성령님]께서 그들에게 아시아에서 말씀을 선포하지 못하게 하시더라.

6 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia.

7 그들이 무시아에 이른 뒤에 비두니아로 들어가려고 애쓰되 성령께서 그들을 허락하지 아니하시므로

7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.

8 그들이 무시아를 지나 드로아로 내려갔더라.

8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.

9 밤에 환상이 바울에게 나타났는데 마케도니아 사람 하나가 서서 그에게 간구하여 이르되, 마케도니아로 건너와서 우리를 도우라, 하거늘

9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us."

10 그가 그 환상을 본 뒤에 [주]께서 그들에게 복음을 선포하라고 우리를 부르신 줄로 확신하였으므로 우리가 즉시 마케도니아로 들어가려고 힘쓰니라.

10 Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.

11 그러므로 우리가 드로아에서 배로 떠나 사모드라게로 직행하여 다음 날 네아폴리스로 가고

11 Therefore, sailing from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day came to Neapolis,

12 거기서 빌립보에 이르렀는데 그곳은 마케도니아의 그쪽 지방에서 으뜸가는 도시요 또 식민지더라. 우리가 그 도시에서 며칠을 머물다가

12 and from there to Philippi, which is the foremost city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city for some days.

13 안식일에 도시에서 나가 사람들이 늘 기도 드리는 강가에 앉아서 거기에 모인 여자들에게 말하니라.

13 And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there.

14 ¶ 두아디라 시 출신의 자주색 옷감 장수로서 하나님께 경배하던 루디아라 하는 어떤 여자가 우리의 말을 들으매 [주]께서 그녀의 마음을 여시므로 그녀가 바울이 말하는 것들에 주의를 기울이니라.

14 Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.

15 그녀와 그녀의 집안사람들이 침례를 받고 우리에게 간청하여 이르되, 만일 당신들이 나를 [주]께 신실한 자로 판단하였거든 내 집에 들어와 거기 머무소서, 하고 우리를 강권하더라.

15 And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay." So she persuaded us.

16 ¶ 우리가 기도하러 가다가 점치는 영에게 사로잡힌 어떤 소녀를 만났는데 이 소녀는 점치는 것으로 자기 주인들에게 많은 이득을 가져다주더라.

16 Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.

17 바로 그 소녀가 바울과 우리를 따라오며 소리 질러 이르되, 이 사람들은 지극히 높으신 하나님의 종들로서 우리에게 구원의 길을 보여 주는 사람들이라, 하며

17 This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation."

18 여러 날을 이같이 하거늘 바울이 근심하여 몸을 돌이켜 그 영에게 이르되, 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 내가 네게 명령하노니 그녀에게서 나오라, 하매 그가 그 즉시 나오니라.

18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour.

19 ¶ 그녀의 주인들은 자기들의 이득의 소망이 사라진 것을 보고 바울과 실라를 붙잡아 장터에 있던 치리자들에게 끌고 갔다가

19 But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.

20 행정관들에게 그들을 데리고 가서 이르되, 이 사람들은 유대인들로서 우리 도시를 심히 어지럽게 하며

20 And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, "These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city;

21 로마 사람인 우리가 받아들이거나 준수하기에 적법하지 않은 풍습들을 가르친다, 하매

21 "and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe."

22 무리가 함께 일어나 그들을 대적하니라. 행정관들이 그들의 옷을 찢어 벗기고 그들을 때리라고 명령하여

22 Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods.

23 그들을 많이 채찍질한 뒤에 감옥에 가두고 간수에게 분부하여 그들을 안전히 지키라고 하매

23 And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely.

24 간수가 이러한 분부를 받아 그들을 안에 있는 감옥에 밀어 넣고 그들의 발을 차꼬에 단단히 채우니라.

24 Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

25 ¶ 한밤중에 바울과 실라가 기도하고 노래로 하나님을 찬양하매 죄수들이 그들의 말을 듣는데

25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

26 갑자기 큰 지진이 나서 감옥의 기초가 흔들리고 즉시 모든 문이 열리며 모든 사람의 결박이 풀리니라.

26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.

27 감옥의 간수가 잠에서 깨어 감옥 문들이 열린 것을 보고 죄수들이 도망한 줄로 생각하여 칼을 빼서 자결하려 하거늘

27 And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself.

28 바울이 큰 소리로 외치며 이르되, 네 몸을 해하지 말라. 우리가 다 여기 있노라, 하니

28 But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here."

29 그때에 그가 등불을 요청하며 뛰어 들어가 떨면서 바울과 실라 앞에 와서 엎드리고

29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.

30 그들을 데리고 나와 이르되, 선생들이여, 내가 무엇을 하여야 구원을 받으리이까? 하거늘

30 And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

31 그들이 이르되, [주] 예수 그리스도를 믿으라. 그리하면 네가 구원을 받고 네 집이 받으리라, 하며

31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

32 [주]의 말씀을 그와 그의 집에 있던 모든 사람에게 말하니라.

32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.

33 그 밤 바로 그 시각에 그가 그들을 데려다가 채찍 맞은 자리를 씻어 주고 자기와 자기의 온 가족이 즉시 침례를 받은 뒤에

33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.

34 그들을 데리고 자기 집에 이르러 그들 앞에 음식을 차려 주며 자기의 온 집과 함께 하나님을 믿고 기뻐하니라.

34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.

35 날이 새니 행정관들이 하사관들을 보내어 이르기를, 그 사람들을 놓아주라, 하매

35 And when it was day, the magistrates sent the officers, saying, "Let those men go."

36 감옥의 간수가 이 말을 바울에게 고하되, 행정관들이 사람을 보내어 선생들을 놓아주라 하였으니 그러므로 이제는 떠나 평안히 가라, 하거늘

36 So the keeper of the prison reported these words to Paul, saying, "The magistrates have sent to let you go. Now therefore depart, and go in peace."

37 바울이 그들에게 이르되, 그들이 로마 사람인 우리를 죄도 정하지 아니하고 공개적으로 때리고 감옥에 가두었다가 이제는 몰래 몰아내려 하느냐? 참으로 그럴 수 없으니 그들이 직접 와서 우리를 데리고 나가야 하리라, 하니라.

37 But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us openly, uncondemned Romans, and have thrown us into prison. And now do they put us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and get us out."

38 하사관들이 이 말을 행정관들에게 고하니 그들이 로마 사람이라 하는 말을 그들이 듣고 두려워하여

38 And the officers told these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans.

39 와서 그들에게 간청하며 그들을 데리고 나와 그 도시에서 떠날 것을 그들에게 요청하매

39 Then they came and pleaded with them and brought them out, and asked them to depart from the city.

40 그들이 감옥에서 나와 루디아의 집에 들어가 형제들을 보고 그들을 위로한 뒤 떠나니라.

40 So they went out of the prison and entered the house of Lydia; and when they had seen the brethren, they encouraged them and departed.
