1 우리 가운데서 매우 확실히 믿게 된 그 일들에 관해

1 Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us,

2 처음부터 목격자 되고 말씀의 사역자 된 사람들이 우리에게 그것들을 전해 준 그대로 차례대로 제시해서 밝히 보이려고 손을 댄 사람들이 많으므로

2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us,

3 모든 일을 맨 처음부터 완전히 이해한 나도 데오빌로 각하 당신에게 차례대로 써서 알리는 것을 좋게 생각하였으니

3 it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus,

4 이것은 각하로 하여금 각하가 이미 설명 받은 그 일들이 확실함을 알게 하려 함이라.

4 that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.

5 ¶ 유대 왕 헤롯 시대에 아비야 계열에 사가랴라는 이름의 어떤 제사장이 있었는데 그의 아내는 아론의 딸들에게 속하였고 그녀의 이름은 엘리사벳이더라.

5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

6 그들이 둘 다 [주]의 모든 명령과 규례 안에서 흠 없이 걸으며 하나님 앞에 의롭더라.

6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

7 엘리사벳이 수태하지 못하므로 그들에게는 아이가 없었고 이제 그들이 둘 다 매우 연로하더라.

7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years.

8 마침 사가랴가 자기 계열의 순서대로 하나님 앞에서 제사장 직무를 수행할 때에

8 So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division,

9 제사장 직무의 관례에 따라 그가 제비를 뽑아 [주]의 성전에 들어가 분향하게 되었더라.

9 according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

10 백성의 온 무리는 분향하는 시간에 밖에서 기도하더라.

10 And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense.

11 [주]의 천사가 그에게 나타나 분향 제단의 오른쪽에 서매

11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

12 사가랴가 그를 보고 불안해하며 두려움에 사로잡히거늘

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

13 천사가 그에게 이르되, 사가랴야, 두려워하지 말라. 주께서 네 기도를 들으셨느니라. 네 아내 엘리사벳이 네게 아들을 낳아 주리니 너는 그의 이름을 요한이라 하라.

13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

14 네가 기뻐하고 즐거워할 것이요, 많은 사람들도 그의 태어남을 기뻐하리니

14 "And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.

15 이는 그가 [주]의 눈앞에서 크게 되고 포도즙이나 독주를 마시지 아니하며 심지어 자기 어머니 태에서부터 [성령님]으로 충만하여

15 "For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

16 이스라엘 자손 중의 많은 이들을 [주] 그들의 하나님께로 돌아오게 할 것이기 때문이라.

16 "And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.

17 그가 또 엘리야의 영과 권능으로 그분보다 앞서 가서 아버지들의 마음을 자녀들에게로 돌아오게 하고 불순종하는 자를 의인의 지혜로 돌아오게 하며 [주]를 위하여 예비된 한 백성을 준비하리라, 하니라.

17 "He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

18 사가랴가 천사에게 이르되, 이것을 내가 무엇으로 알리이까? 나는 노인이요 내 아내도 매우 연로하나이다, 하니

18 And Zacharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years."

19 천사가 응답하여 그에게 이르되, 나는 하나님 앞에 서는 가브리엘이라. 이 기쁜 소식을 네게 말하며 네게 보이기 위해 내가 보내어졌노라.

19 And the angel answered and said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings.

20 보라, 네가 내 말들을 믿지 아니하므로 이 일들이 이루어지는 날까지 네가 벙어리가 되어 말을 하지 못하려니와 내 말들은 그것들의 때에 성취되리라, 하더라.

20 "But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time."

21 백성이 사가랴를 기다리며 그가 성전 안에 그토록 오랫동안 머무르는 것을 이상히 여기더라.

21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple.

22 그가 나와서 그들에게 말을 하지 못하매 그들이 그가 성전 안에서 환상을 본 줄 알았으니 이는 그가 그들에게 손짓을 하며 말을 하지 못한 채 있었기 때문이더라.

22 But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless.

23 그가 자기 직무의 날들을 다 마친 뒤 곧 떠나서 자기 집으로 가니라.

23 And so it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house.

24 그 날들이 지난 뒤에 그의 아내 엘리사벳이 수태하고 다섯 달 동안 숨어 지내며 이르되,

24 Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,

25 [주]께서 나를 살펴보시는 날들에 사람들 가운데서 내 치욕을 없애 주시려고 나를 이렇게 대우하셨다, 하더라.

25 "Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people."

26 여섯째 달에 천사 가브리엘이 하나님에 의해 나사렛이라 하는 갈릴리의 도시로 보내어져서

26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

27 다윗의 집에 속한 요셉이라는 이름의 남자와 정혼한 처녀에게 이르렀는데 그 처녀의 이름은 마리아더라.

27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.

28 그 천사가 들어가 그녀에게 이르러 말하되, 크게 호의를 입은 자여, 평안할지어다. [주]께서 너와 함께하시니 네가 여자들 가운데 복이 있도다, 하매

28 And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!"

29 그녀가 그를 보고 그가 하는 말에 불안해하며 이것이 도대체 무슨 인사인가 하고 마음속으로 생각하니

29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.

30 그 천사가 그녀에게 이르되, 마리아야, 두려워하지 말라. 네가 하나님께 호의를 입었느니라.

30 Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31 보라, 네가 네 태에 수태하여 아들을 낳고 그의 이름을 { 예수} 라 하리라.

31 "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS.

32 그가 크게 되고 [가장 높으신 이]의 [아들]이라 불릴 것이요, [주] 하나님께서 그의 조상 다윗의 왕좌를 그에게 주시리니

32 "He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.

33 그가 영원토록 야곱의 집을 통치하며 그의 왕국이 무궁하리라, 하니라.

33 "And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end."

34 이에 마리아가 천사에게 이르되, 나는 남자를 알지 못하는데 어찌 이 일이 있으리이까? 하매

34 Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?"

35 천사가 그녀에게 대답하여 이르되, [성령님]께서 네게 임하시고 [가장 높으신 이]의 권능이 너를 덮으시리니 그런즉 또한 네게서 태어날 그 거룩한 것은 하나님의 [아들]이라 불리리라.

35 And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

36 보라, 네 사촌 엘리사벳도 늙은 나이에 아들을 수태하였느니라. 수태하지 못한다고 하던 그녀에게 이 달이 여섯째 달이 되었나니

36 "Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.

37 하나님께는 불가능한 일이 없느니라, 하니라.

37 "For with God nothing will be impossible."

38 마리아가 이르되, [주]의 여종을 보소서. 당신의 말씀대로 그 일이 내게 이루어지리이다, 하매 천사가 그녀에게서 떠나니라.

38 Then Mary said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.

39 그 무렵에 마리아가 일어나 서둘러 산간 지방으로 가서 유다의 한 도시에 이르러

39 Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,

40 사가랴의 집에 들어가 엘리사벳에게 문안하니

40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

41 엘리사벳이 마리아의 문안을 들을 때에 아기가 그녀의 태 속에서 뛰노니라. 엘리사벳이 [성령님]으로 충만하여

41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

42 큰 소리로 말하여 이르되, 네가 여자들 가운데 복이 있으며 네 태의 열매가 복이 있도다.

42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

43 내 [주]의 어머니가 내게 오시다니 어찌 이 일이 내게 임하는가?

43 "But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 보라, 네 문안하는 소리가 내 귀에 들릴 때에 즉시로 아기가 내 태 속에서 기뻐 뛰놀았도다.

44 "For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

45 믿은 여자가 복이 있나니 [주]께서 그녀에게 말씀하신 그 일들이 반드시 이루어지리라, 하니라.

45 "Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord."

46 마리아가 이르되, 내 혼이 [주]를 크게 높이고

46 And Mary said: "My soul magnifies the Lord,

47 내 영이 하나님 곧 내 [구원자]를 기뻐하였나니

47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

48 이는 그분께서 자신의 여종의 낮은 처지에 관심을 두셨기 때문이라. 보라, 이제부터 모든 세대가 나를 가리켜 복이 있다 하리로다.

48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.

49 능하신 분께서 큰일들을 내게 행하셨으니 그분의 이름이 거룩하며

49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.

50 그분의 긍휼이 그분을 두려워하는 자들에게 대대로 있도다.

50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation.

51 그분께서 자신의 팔로 힘을 보이사 자기 마음의 상상 속에서 교만한 자들을 흩으시고

51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

52 강한 자들을 그들의 자리에서 끌어내리시며 낮은 지위에 있는 자들을 높이시고

52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly.

53 주린 자들을 좋은 것들로 배부르게 하시며 부자들을 빈손으로 보내셨도다.

53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty.

54 그분께서 자신의 긍휼을 기억하사 자신의 종 이스라엘을 도우셨으니

54 He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy,

55 이것은 곧 그분께서 우리 조상들과 아브라함과 그의 씨에게 영원히 말씀하신 것과 같도다, 하니라.

55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever."

56 마리아가 그녀와 함께 석 달쯤 거하다가 자기 집으로 돌아가니라.

56 And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her house.

57 이제 엘리사벳이 해산할 때가 다 되어 아들을 낳으니

57 Now Elizabeth's full time came for her to be delivered, and she brought forth a son.

58 그녀의 이웃과 사촌들이 [주]께서 그녀에게 큰 긍휼 베푸신 것을 듣고 그녀와 함께 기뻐하더라.

58 When her neighbors and relatives heard how the Lord had shown great mercy to her, they rejoiced with her.

59 여드레째 되는 날 그들이 아이에게 할례를 행하러 와서 그의 아버지의 이름을 따라 그를 사가랴라 부르매

59 So it was, on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him by the name of his father, Zacharias.

60 그의 어머니가 응답하여 이르되, 그렇지 아니하니 그를 요한이라 불러야 하리라, 하거늘

60 His mother answered and said, "No; he shall be called John."

61 그들이 그녀에게 이르되, 네 친족 중에 이 이름으로 불리는 이가 없다, 하고

61 But they said to her, "There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name."

62 그의 아버지에게 손짓하여 그가 어떻게 그를 부를지 물으니

62 So they made signs to his father--what he would have him called.

63 그가 글 쓰는 판을 달라고 하여 쓰며 말하기를, 그의 이름은 요한이라, 하매 그들이 다 이상히 여기더라.

63 And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, "His name is John." So they all marveled.

64 즉시 그의 입이 열리고 혀가 풀리며 그가 말을 하여 하나님을 찬양하니

64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, praising God.

65 그들 주변에 거하던 모든 사람에게 두려움이 임하였고 이 모든 말이 유대의 온 산간 지방에 두루 널리 퍼지매

65 Then fear came on all who dwelt around them; and all these sayings were discussed throughout all the hill country of Judea.

66 그 말들을 들은 모든 사람이 그것들을 마음속에 두며 이르되, 앞으로 이 아이가 어떤 아이가 될까! 하더라. [주]의 손이 그와 함께하더라.

66 And all those who heard them kept them in their hearts, saying, "What kind of child will this be?" And the hand of the Lord was with him.

67 그의 아버지 사가랴가 [성령님]으로 충만하여 대언하여 이르되,

67 Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:

68 [주] 이스라엘의 하나님을 찬송하리로다. 그분께서 자신의 백성을 돌아보사 구속하시고

68 "Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people,

69 우리를 위하여 구원의 뿔을 자신의 종 다윗의 집에 일으키셨으니

69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David,

70 이것은 세상이 시작된 이래로 존재하던 자신의 거룩한 대언자들의 입을 통해 그분께서 말씀하신 바와 같이

70 As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began,

71 우리 원수들과 우리를 미워하는 모든 자들의 손에서 우리를 구원하려 하심이요,

71 That we should be saved from our enemies And from the hand of all who hate us,

72 또 우리 조상들에게 약속하신 긍휼을 이루시고 자신의 거룩한 언약

72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers And to remember His holy covenant,

73 곧 우리 조상 아브라함에게 자신이 맹세하신 그 맹세를 기억하려 하심이며

73 The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:

74 또한 우리 원수들의 손에서 우리를 건져 내사

74 To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear,

75 우리가 평생토록 자신 앞에서 거룩함과 의로움으로 두려움 없이 자신을 섬기도록 허락하려 하심이라.

75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.

76 아이야, 너는 [가장 높으신 이]의 대언자라 불리리라. 네가 [주]의 얼굴 앞에 가서 그분의 길들을 예비하고

76 "And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,

77 그분의 백성에게 그들의 죄들의 사면을 통하여 구원을 얻게 하는 지식을 주리니

77 To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins,

78 이것은 우리 하나님의 친절한 긍휼로 말미암은 것이라. 이로써 동트는 때가 높은 곳으로부터 우리를 찾아와

78 Through the tender mercy of our God, With which the Dayspring from on high has visited us;

79 어둠과 사망의 그늘에 앉은 자들에게 빛을 주고 우리 발을 화평의 길로 인도하셨도다, 하니라.

79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace."

80 아이가 자라며 영이 강하게 되고 이스라엘에게 자신을 나타내는 날까지 광야에 있더라.

80 So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.

1 그 무렵에 카이사르 아우구스투스가 칙령을 내려 온 세상이 조세 등록을 하게 하였는데

1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.

2 (이 조세 등록은 구레뇨가 시리아의 총독이었을 때 처음 한 것이더라.)

2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.

3 모든 사람이 조세 등록을 하러 저마다 자기의 도시로 가매

3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

4 요셉도 (다윗의 집과 혈통에 속하였으므로) 갈릴리의 나사렛 시에서 나와 유대로 올라가 베들레헴이라 하는 다윗의 도시에 이르러

4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

5 자기의 정혼한 아내 마리아와 함께 조세 등록을 하려 하였는데 그녀가 아이를 배어 배가 불렀더라.

5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.

6 이처럼 그들이 거기 있을 때에 그녀가 해산할 날들이 다 차매

6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.

7 그녀가 자기의 맏아들을 낳아 포대기로 싸서 구유에 뉘었으니 이는 여관에 그들을 위한 방이 없었기 때문이더라.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 바로 그 지역에서 목자들이 들에 거하며 밤에 자기 양 떼를 지키더라.

8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 보라, [주]의 천사가 그들에게 임하고 [주]의 영광이 그들 주위를 두루 비추매 그들이 심히 두려워하더라.

9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.

10 천사가 그들에게 이르되, 두려워하지 말라. 보라, 내가 온 백성에게 미칠 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식을 너희에게 가져왔노라.

10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.

11 이 날 다윗의 도시에 너희를 위해 [구원자] 곧 그리스도 [주]께서 태어나셨느니라.

11 "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

12 이것이 너희에게 표적이 되리니 곧 너희가 포대기에 싸여 구유에 누인 아기를 보리라, 하매

12 "And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."

13 갑자기 하늘의 군대의 무리가 그 천사와 함께하며 하나님을 찬양하여 이르되,

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

14 가장 높은 곳에서는 하나님께 영광이요, 땅에서는 평화와 사람들을 향한 선하신 뜻이로다, 하니라.

14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

15 천사들이 그들을 떠나 하늘로 올라가니 목자들이 서로 이르되, 이제 우리가 베들레헴까지 가서 [주]께서 우리에게 알려 주신 일 곧 일어난 이 일을 보자, 하고

15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us."

16 서둘러 가서 마리아와 요셉과 구유에 누인 아기를 찾아서

16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.

17 보고는 그때에 천사가 이 아이에 대하여 자기들에게 말한 것을 널리 알리니

17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.

18 그것을 들은 자들은 다 목자들이 자기들에게 말한 그 일들을 이상히 여기되

18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 마리아는 이 모든 일을 마음속에 간직하고 깊이 생각하니라.

19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.

20 목자들은 천사가 자기들에게 일러 준 대로 자기들이 듣고 본 그 모든 일로 인하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 찬양하며 돌아가니라.

20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

21 아이에게 할례를 행하기 위해 여드레가 찼을 때에 그들이 그의 이름을 { 예수} 라 하니라. 그것은 그분께서 태 속에 수태되기 전에 천사가 일러 준 이름이더라.

21 And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called JESUS, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.

22 또 모세의 율법에 따라 그녀를 정결하게 하는 날들을 채우매 그들이 아이를 데리고 예루살렘에 가니

22 Now when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord

23 이것은 ([주]의 율법에 기록된바, 태를 여는 모든 남자는 [주]께 거룩한 자라 불리리라, 한 대로) 아이를 [주]께 드리고

23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the LORD"),

24 또 [주]의 율법에서 이르신 것대로 산비둘기 한 쌍이나 집비둘기 새끼 두 마리로 희생물을 드리려 함이더라.

24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, "A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."

25 보라, 예루살렘에 시므온이라 하는 사람이 있었는데 바로 그 사람은 의롭고 독실하여 이스라엘의 위로를 기다리는 자더라. [성령님]께서 그 위에 계시더라.

25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

26 그가 [주]의 그리스도를 보기 전에는 죽음을 보지 아니하리라는 것이 [성령님]에 의해 그에게 계시되었더라.

26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

27 그가 성령을 힘입어 성전에 들어가니 마침 아이의 양친이 율법의 관례대로 아이에게 행하려고 아이 예수님을 데려오므로

27 So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law,

28 이에 그가 아이를 팔에 안고 하나님을 찬송하여 이르되,

28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:

29 [주]여, 이제 주의 말씀대로 주의 종이 평안히 떠나도록 허락하소서.

29 "Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word;

30 내 눈이 주의 구원을 보았사온데

30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation

31 그것은 주께서 모든 백성들의 얼굴 앞에 예비하신 것이요,

31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,

32 이방인들을 밝히는 빛이요, 주의 백성 이스라엘의 영광이니이다, 하매

32 A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel."

33 요셉과 아이의 어머니는 그가 아이에 관하여 말한 그 일들로 인해 놀라더라.

33 And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.

34 시므온이 그들을 축복하고 아이의 어머니 마리아에게 이르되, 보라, 이 아이는 이스라엘에서 많은 사람을 넘어지게 하고 다시 일어나게 하기 위해 세워졌으며 또 비방을 받는 표적이 되기 위해 세워졌나니

34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against

35 (참으로 칼이 네 혼도 찔러 꿰뚫으리라.) 이것은 많은 사람의 마음의 생각이 드러나게 하려 함이니라, 하더라.

35 "(yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."

36 또 아셀 지파에 속한 바누엘의 딸 안나라 하는 여대언자가 있었는데 그녀는 나이가 매우 많더라. 그녀가 처녀 생활을 벗어나 칠 년을 남편과 함께 살다가

36 Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;

37 과부가 된 지 팔십사 년쯤 되니라. 그녀가 성전을 떠나지 아니하고 밤낮으로 금식하고 기도하며 하나님을 섬기더라.

37 and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

38 마침 그때에 그녀가 나아와 마찬가지로 [주]께 감사를 드리고 예루살렘에서 구속을 기다리던 모든 사람에게 이 아이에 대하여 말하니라.

38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

39 그들이 [주]의 율법에 따라 모든 일을 행하고 갈릴리로 돌아가 자기들의 도시 나사렛에 이르니라.

39 So when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.

40 아이가 자라며 영이 강하게 되고 지혜가 충만하며 하나님의 은혜가 그 위에 있더라.

40 And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

41 이제 그분의 양친은 해마다 유월절이 되면 예루살렘에 갔더라.

41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.

42 그분께서 열두 살 되셨을 때에 그들이 그 명절의 관례대로 예루살렘에 올라갔다가

42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.

43 그 날들을 채우고 돌아갈 때에 아이 예수님은 뒤에 남아 예루살렘에 머무셨더라. 요셉과 그분의 어머니는 그것을 알지 못한 채

43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it;

44 그분이 일행 중에 있는 줄로 생각하고 하룻길을 간 뒤 자기들의 친족과 친지들 가운데서 그분을 찾되

44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day's journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances.

45 발견하지 못하였으므로 그분을 찾으면서 예루살렘으로 되돌아가니라.

45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.

46 그들이 사흘 뒤에 그분을 성전에서 발견하였는데 그분께서 박사들 한가운데 앉으사 그들의 말을 듣기도 하시며 그들에게 문제들을 묻기도 하시더라.

46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.

47 그분의 말을 들은 모든 자들은 그분께서 깨닫고 답변하시는 것들로 인하여 깜짝 놀라더라.

47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.

48 그들이 그분을 보고 놀라며 그분의 어머니는 그분께 이르되, 아들아, 네가 어찌하여 우리에게 이렇게 하였느냐? 보라, 네 아버지와 내가 근심하며 너를 찾았노라, 하매

48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, "Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously."

49 그분께서 그들에게 이르시되, 어찌 나를 찾으셨나이까? 내가 반드시 내 [아버지] 일을 해야 함을 알지 못하셨나이까? 하시니라.

49 And He said to them, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?"

50 그들은 그분께서 자기들에게 하신 말씀을 깨닫지 못하더라.

50 But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.

51 그분께서 그들과 함께 내려가사 나사렛에 이르러 그들에게 복종하시더라. 그러나 그분의 어머니는 이 모든 말씀을 마음속에 간직하니라.

51 Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart.

52 예수님께서는 지혜와 키가 자라며 하나님과 사람에게 더욱 호의를 입으시더라.

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
