11.

1 <베드로가 자신의 행동을 설명하다> 유대에 있는 사도들과 형제들이 이방 사람들도 하나님의 말씀을 받았다는 소식을 들었습니다.

1 Soon the news reached the apostles and other believers in Judea that the Gentiles had received the word of God.

2 그래서 베드로가 예루살렘에 올라갔을 때 할례 받은 신자들이 그를 비난하며

2 But when Peter arrived back in Jerusalem, the Jewish believers criticized him.

3 "당신이 어떻게 할례 받지 않은 사람들의 집에 들어가 그들과 함께 식사를 할 수 있소?"라고 물었습니다.

3 "You entered the home of Gentiles and even ate with them!" they said.

4 베드로가 입을 열어 그 일의 자초지종을 차근차근 설명하기 시작했습니다.

4 Then Peter told them exactly what had happened.

5 "내가 욥바에서 기도하다가 비몽사몽간에 환상을 보았는데 하늘에서 큰 보자기 같은 게 네 귀퉁이가 묶인 채로 내가 있는 곳까지 내려오는 것이 보였습니다.

5 "I was in the town of Joppa," he said, "and while I was praying, I went into a trance and saw a vision. Something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners from the sky. And it came right down to me.

6 내가 그 안을 들여다보니 네 발 달린 땅의 짐승들과 들짐승들과 기어다니는 것들과 공중의 새들이 있었습니다.

6 When I looked inside the sheet, I saw all sorts of small animals, wild animals, reptiles, and birds.

7 그때 '베드로야, 일어나 잡아먹어라' 하는 소리가 내게 들렸습니다.

7 And I heard a voice say, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.'

8 그러나 나는 '말도 안 됩니다. 주님, 불결하거나 더러운 것은 한 번도 제 입에 들어간 적이 없습니다'라고 대답했습니다.

8 "'No, Lord,' I replied. 'I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure or unclean.'

9 그런데 하늘에서 다시 '하나님께서 깨끗하게 하신 것을 불결하다고 하지 마라' 하는 음성이 들려왔습니다.

9 "But the voice from heaven spoke again： 'Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.'

10 이런 일이 세 번 일어난 후에 모든 것이 다시 하늘로 올라갔습니다.

10 This happened three times before the sheet and all it contained was pulled back up to heaven.

11 바로 그때 가이사랴에서 나를 부르러 온 세 사람이 내가 묵고 있던 집을 찾아왔습니다.

11 "Just then three men who had been sent from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were staying.

12 그리고 성령께서 그들과 함께 가기를 주저하지 말라고 내게 말씀하셨습니다. 여기 있는 이 여섯 명의 형제들도 나와 함께 고넬료의 집으로 들어갔습니다.

12 The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry that they were Gentiles. These six brothers here accompanied me, and we soon entered the home of the man who had sent for us.

13 고넬료는 자기 집에 천사가 나타나서 '욥바에 사람을 보내 베드로라 하는 시몬을 찾아라.

13 He told us how an angel had appeared to him in his home and had told him, 'Send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter.

14 그가 너와 네 온 집을 구원할 말씀을 가져올 것이다'라고 한 이야기를 우리에게 전해 주었습니다.

14 He will tell you how you and everyone in your household can be saved!'

15 내가 말을 시작하자 성령이 처음 우리에게 내려오신 것처럼 그들에게도 내려오셨습니다.

15 "As I began to speak," Peter continued, "the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.

16 그때 나는 '요한은 물로 세례를 주었지만 너희는 성령으로 세례를 받을 것이다'라고 하신 주의 말씀이 생각났습니다.

16 Then I thought of the Lord's words when he said, 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'

17 그러니 하나님께서 주 예수 그리스도를 믿는 우리에게 주신 바로 그 선물을 그들에게도 주셨는데 내가 누구라고 감히 하나님을 반대할 수 있겠습니까?"

17 And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to stand in God's way?"

18 그들은 이 말을 듣고 더 이상 할 말이 없었습니다. 그들은 하나님을 찬양하며 "그렇다면 하나님께서 이방 사람들에게도 생명 얻는 회개를 허락하신 것이로군요"라고 말했습니다.

18 When the others heard this, they stopped objecting and began praising God. They said, "We can see that God has also given the Gentiles the privilege of repenting of their sins and receiving eternal life."

19 <안디옥 교회> 그 무렵 스데반의 일로 인해 핍박을 받아 뿔뿔이 흩어진 사람들은 페니키아, 키프로스 그리고 안디옥까지 건너가 유대 사람들에게만 말씀을 전하고 있었습니다.

19 Meanwhile, the believers who had been scattered during the persecution after Stephen's death traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch of Syria. They preached the word of God, but only to Jews.

20 그런데 그 가운데 키프로스와 구레네 출신인 몇 사람은 안디옥으로 들어가 그리스 사람들에게도 주 예수의 복음을 전하기 시작했습니다.

20 However, some of the believers who went to Antioch from Cyprus and Cyrene began preaching to the Gentiles about the Lord Jesus.

21 주의 손이 그들과 함께하셔서 많은 수의 사람들이 믿고 주께 돌아왔습니다.

21 The power of the Lord was with them, and a large number of these Gentiles believed and turned to the Lord.

22 이 소식이 예루살렘에 있는 교회에 전해지자 그들은 바나바를 안디옥으로 보냈습니다.

22 When the church at Jerusalem heard what had happened, they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

23 바나바는 안디옥에 도착해 하나님의 은혜가 내린 것을 보고 기뻐하며 온 마음을 다해 주께 끝까지 충성하라고 그들 모두를 격려했습니다.

23 When he arrived and saw this evidence of God's blessing, he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord.

24 그는 착하고 성령과 믿음이 충만한 사람이었기 때문에 수많은 사람들이 주께 나오게 됐습니다.

24 Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith. And many people were brought to the Lord.

25 그리고 바나바는 사울을 찾으러 다소로 가서

25 Then Barnabas went on to Tarsus to look for Saul.

26 그를 만나 안디옥으로 데리고 왔습니다. 그리하여 바나바와 사울은 1년 내내 그곳 교회에 머물면서 많은 사람들을 가르쳤습니다. 그리고 안디옥에서 제자들은 처음으로 '그리스도의 사람'이라고 불리게 됐습니다.

26 When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching large crowds of people. (It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)

27 이 기간 동안 몇몇 예언자들이 예루살렘에서 안디옥으로 내려왔습니다.

27 During this time some prophets traveled from Jerusalem to Antioch.

28 그들 가운데 아가보라는 사람이 있었는데 그가 일어나 로마 전역에 심한 기근이 들 것이라고 성령으로 예언했습니다. (이 일은 글라우디오 황제가 다스리는 때 일어났습니다.)

28 One of them named Agabus stood up in one of the meetings and predicted by the Spirit that a great famine was coming upon the entire Roman world. (This was fulfilled during the reign of Claudius.)

29 제자들은 각자 자기 형편에 따라 유대에 살고 있는 형제들을 돕기로 했습니다.

29 So the believers in Antioch decided to send relief to the brothers and sisters in Judea, everyone giving as much as they could.

30 그들은 이렇게 해서 모은 헌금을 바나바와 사울 편으로 예루살렘 교회 장로들에게 보냈습니다.

30 This they did, entrusting their gifts to Barnabas and Saul to take to the elders of the church in Jerusalem.

1 <베드로가 감옥에서 기적적으로 탈출하다> 그 무렵 헤롯 왕이 교회를 박해하려고 교회에 속한 몇몇 사람들을 체포했습니다.

1 About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church.

2 헤롯은 먼저 요한의 형제 야고보를 칼로 죽였습니다.

2 He had the apostle James killed with a sword.

3 이 일을 유대 사람들이 기뻐하는 것을 본 헤롯은 이어 베드로도 잡아들였습니다. 이때는 무교절 기간이었습니다.

3 When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish people, he also arrested Peter. (This took place during the Passover celebration.)

4 그는 베드로를 잡아 감옥에 가두고 군인들을 네 명씩 한 조를 지어서 네 조가 지키도록 했습니다. 헤롯은 유월절이 지나면 그를 백성들 앞에 끌어내 공개적으로 재판할 생각이었습니다.

4 Then he imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring Peter out for public trial after the Passover.

5 이렇게 베드로는 감옥에 갇혔고 교회는 그를 위해 하나님께 간절히 기도했습니다.

5 But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.

6 헤롯이 베드로를 재판장으로 끌어내려고 하던 전날 밤, 베드로는 두 개의 쇠사슬에 묶인 채 두 명의 군인들 사이에서 잠들어 있었고 경비병들이 감옥 문을 지키고 서 있었습니다.

6 The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate.

7 그런데 갑자기 주의 천사가 나타나더니 감방에 빛이 환하게 비치는 것이었습니다. 그가 베드로의 옆구리를 찔러 깨우며 "어서 일어나거라" 하고 말했습니다. 그러자 베드로의 손목에 매여 있던 쇠사슬이 풀렸습니다.

7 Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, "Quick! Get up!" And the chains fell off his wrists.

8 그때 천사가 베드로에게 "허리띠를 매고 신을 신어라" 하고 말하자 베드로는 그렇게 했습니다. 천사가 다시 "겉옷을 입고 나를 따라오너라" 하고 말했습니다.

8 Then the angel told him, "Get dressed and put on your sandals." And he did. "Now put on your coat and follow me," the angel ordered.

9 베드로는 천사를 따라 감옥에서 나오면서도 도대체 천사가 하는 일이 꿈인지 생시인지 알 수 없었습니다. 그저 환상인 것만 같았습니다.

9 So Peter left the cell, following the angel. But all the time he thought it was a vision. He didn't realize it was actually happening.

10 그들은 첫 번째 경비병들과 두 번째 경비병들을 지나서 성으로 통하는 철문에 이르렀습니다. 그 문이 저절로 열려 그들은 바깥으로 나왔습니다. 거리를 하나 지나자 갑자기 천사가 떠나갔습니다.

10 They passed the first and second guard posts and came to the iron gate leading to the city, and this opened for them all by itself. So they passed through and started walking down the street, and then the angel suddenly left him.

11 그제야 비로소 베드로는 정신이 들어 "이제야 분명히 알겠다. 주께서 천사를 보내 헤롯의 손아귀와 유대 사람들의 모든 기대에서 나를 구해 주셨다"라고 말했습니다.

11 Peter finally came to his senses. "It's really true!" he said. "The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me!"

12 이 사실을 깨달은 후 그는 마가라고도 하는 요한의 어머니 마리아의 집으로 갔습니다. 많은 사람들이 그곳에 모여 기도하고 있었습니다.

12 When he realized this, he went to the home of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where many were gathered for prayer.

13 베드로가 대문을 두드리자 로데라는 어린 여종이 문을 열어 주러 나왔습니다.

13 He knocked at the door in the gate, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to open it.

14 여종은 베드로의 목소리인 줄 알아차리고 너무나 기뻐서 문 여는 것도 잊은 채 달려가 베드로가 문밖에 와 있다고 소리쳤습니다.

14 When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed that, instead of opening the door, she ran back inside and told everyone, "Peter is standing at the door!"

15 그러자 사람들이 여종에게 "네가 미쳤구나"라고 말했습니다. 그러나 여종이 계속 사실이라고 우겨 대자 그들은 "베드로의 천사겠지"라고 말했습니다.

15 "You're out of your mind!" they said. When she insisted, they decided, "It must be his angel."

16 그때 베드로가 계속 문을 두드렸습니다. 그들이 문을 열고 베드로를 보더니 깜짝 놀랐습니다.

16 Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally opened the door and saw him, they were amazed.

17 베드로는 조용히 하라고 손짓하며 주께서 자신을 감옥 밖으로 끌어내신 경위를 설명했습니다. "이 사실을 야고보와 그 형제들에게 알려 주시오"라고 말하고서 베드로는 다른 곳으로 떠났습니다.

17 He motioned for them to quiet down and told them how the Lord had led him out of prison. "Tell James and the other brothers what happened," he said. And then he went to another place.

18 아침이 되자 베드로가 없어진 일로 인해 군인들 사이에는 적지 않은 소동이 벌어졌습니다.

18 At dawn there was a great commotion among the soldiers about what had happened to Peter.

19 헤롯이 샅샅이 뒤져 보았지만 베드로를 찾을 수 없게 되자 헤롯은 경비병들을 심문한 뒤 그들을 대신 처형하라고 명령했습니다. <헤롯의 죽음> 그 후 헤롯은 유대를 떠나 가이사랴로 가서 잠시 그곳에서 지냈습니다.

19 Herod Agrippa ordered a thorough search for him. When he couldn't be found, Herod interrogated the guards and sentenced them to death. Afterward Herod left Judea to stay in Caesarea for a while.

20 당시 헤롯은 두로와 시돈 사람들을 못마땅하게 여기고 있었습니다. 그래서 그들은 무리를 지어 헤롯에게 와서 왕의 시종 블라스도를 설득해 화친을 요청했습니다. 이것은 자기들이 헤롯 왕의 영토에서 나는 양식을 공급받고 있기 때문이었습니다.

20 Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. So they sent a delegation to make peace with him because their cities were dependent upon Herod's country for food. The delegates won the support of Blastus, Herod's personal assistant,

21 약속한 날에 헤롯은 왕의 의복을 갖춰 입고 왕좌에 앉아 사람들에게 연설을 했습니다.

21 and an appointment with Herod was granted. When the day arrived, Herod put on his royal robes, sat on his throne, and made a speech to them.

22 그러자 사람들은 "이것은 신의 음성이지 사람의 음성이 아니다"라고 외쳤습니다.

22 The people gave him a great ovation, shouting, "It's the voice of a god, not of a man!"

23 그런데 헤롯이 하나님께 영광을 돌리지 않았기 때문에 주의 천사가 즉시 헤롯을 내리쳐서 그는 벌레에 먹혀 죽고 말았습니다.

23 Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people's worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.

24 그러나 하나님의 말씀은 점점 널리 퍼져서 믿는 사람이 더욱 늘어나게 됐습니다.

24 Meanwhile, the word of God continued to spread, and there were many new believers.

25 <바나바와 사울이 파송되다> 바나바와 사울이 자기 임무를 마치자 그들은 마가라고도 하는 요한을 데리고 예루살렘에서 돌아왔습니다.

25 When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission to Jerusalem, they returned, taking John Mark with them.

1 안디옥 교회에는 예언자들과 교사들이 있었습니다. 그들은 바나바, 니게르라고 하는 시므온, 구레네 사람 루기오, 분봉 왕 헤롯 안티파스와 어릴 때부터 함께 자란 마나엔 그리고 사울이었습니다.

1 Among the prophets and teachers of the church at Antioch of Syria were Barnabas, Simeon (called "the black man"), Lucius (from Cyrene), Manaen (the childhood companion of King Herod Antipas), and Saul.

2 그들이 주께 예배드리며 금식하고 있을 때 성령께서 그들에게 "너희는 바나바와 사울을 따로 세워 내가 그들에게 맡긴 일을 하게 하라"라고 말씀하셨습니다.

2 One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them."

3 그래서 그들은 금식하며 기도한 후 바나바와 사울에게 손을 얹고 그들을 보냈습니다.

3 So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.

4 <키프로스> 그 두 사람은 성령의 보내심을 받아 실루기아로 내려갔다가 거기서 배를 타고 키프로스로 가게 됐습니다.

4 So Barnabas and Saul were sent out by the Holy Spirit. They went down to the seaport of Seleucia and then sailed for the island of Cyprus.

5 그들이 살라미에 이르러서는 유대 사람의 여러 회당에서 하나님의 말씀을 선포했습니다. 요한이 동행하며 그들을 도왔습니다.

5 There, in the town of Salamis, they went to the Jewish synagogues and preached the word of God. John Mark went with them as their assistant.

6 그들이 그 섬을 가로질러 바보에 도착했습니다. 거기서 그들은 바예수라는 사람을 만났는데 그는 유대 사람 마술사요, 거짓 예언자로서

6 Afterward they traveled from town to town across the entire island until finally they reached Paphos, where they met a Jewish sorcerer, a false prophet named Bar-Jesus.

7 총독 서기오 바울 곁에 함께 있는 사람이었습니다. 지성적이었던 총독은 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 싶어 바나바와 사울에게 사람을 보냈습니다.

7 He had attached himself to the governor, Sergius Paulus, who was an intelligent man. The governor invited Barnabas and Saul to visit him, for he wanted to hear the word of God.

8 그러나 엘루마라고도 하는 이 마술사가 그들을 막으며 총독이 믿음을 갖지 못하게 하려고 애를 썼습니다.

8 But Elymas, the sorcerer (as his name means in Greek), interfered and urged the governor to pay no attention to what Barnabas and Saul said. He was trying to keep the governor from believing.

9 그러자 바울이라고도 하는 사울이 성령 충만한 가운데 엘루마를 뚫어지게 쳐다보며 말했습니다.

9 Saul, also known as Paul, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he looked the sorcerer in the eye.

10 "이 마귀의 자식아! 너는 모든 의의 원수로다! 너는 갖은 속임수와 거짓으로 가득 차 있구나. 주의 바른길을 어지럽게 하는 일을 그치지 못하겠느냐?

10 Then he said, "You son of the devil, full of every sort of deceit and fraud, and enemy of all that is good! Will you never stop perverting the true ways of the Lord?

11 이제 주의 손이 너를 치심으로 네 눈이 멀어 얼마 동안 햇빛을 보지 못할 것이다." 그러자 즉시 안개와 어둠이 그를 덮쳤고 그는 이리저리 더듬으며 자기 손을 잡아 이끌어 줄 사람을 찾았습니다.

11 Watch now, for the Lord has laid his hand of punishment upon you, and you will be struck blind. You will not see the sunlight for some time." Instantly mist and darkness came over the man's eyes, and he began groping around begging for someone to take his hand and lead him.

12 이 일을 보자 총독이 믿게 됐고 주에 관한 가르침에 그저 놀랄 뿐이었습니다.

12 When the governor saw what had happened, he became a believer, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.

13 <비시디아 안디옥> 바울과 그 일행은 바보에서 배를 타고 밤빌리아에 있는 버가에 이르렀습니다. 그곳에서 요한은 그들과 헤어져 예루살렘으로 돌아갔습니다.

13 Paul and his companions then left Paphos by ship for Pamphylia, landing at the port town of Perga. There John Mark left them and returned to Jerusalem.

14 그들은 버가에서 더 나아가 비시디아 안디옥으로 갔습니다. 그리고 안식일이 돼 회당에 들어가 앉았습니다.

14 But Paul and Barnabas traveled inland to Antioch of Pisidia. On the Sabbath they went to the synagogue for the services.

15 율법서와 예언자들의 글을 낭독한 뒤에 회당 지도자들이 바울과 바나바에게 전갈을 보내 "형제들이여, 이 사람들에게 권면해 줄 말씀이 있으면 하시오"라고 했습니다.

15 After the usual readings from the books of Moses and the prophets, those in charge of the service sent them this message： "Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, come and give it."

16 바울이 일어나 손짓하며 말했습니다. "이스라엘 사람들 또 하나님을 경외하는 이방 사람들이여, 내 말을 들으십시오.

16 So Paul stood, lifted his hand to quiet them, and started speaking. "Men of Israel," he said, "and you God-fearing Gentiles, listen to me.

17 이스라엘 백성의 하나님께서는 우리 조상들을 선택하셔서 이 민족이 이집트 땅에 사는 동안 큰 민족이 되게 하시고 큰 권능으로 그들을 그 나라에서 이끌어 내셨습니다.

17 "The God of this nation of Israel chose our ancestors and made them multiply and grow strong during their stay in Egypt. Then with a powerful arm he led them out of their slavery.

18 광야에서 40년 동안 그들의 소행을 참으시고

18 He put up with them through forty years of wandering in the wilderness.

19 가나안 땅의 일곱 민족을 멸하셔서 그 땅을 이스라엘 백성들에게 유업으로 주셨습니다.

19 Then he destroyed seven nations in Canaan and gave their land to Israel as an inheritance.

20 이 모든 일은 450여 년에 걸쳐 일어났습니다. 그 뒤 하나님께서는 그들에게 예언자 사무엘 시대까지 사사들을 세워 주셨습니다.

20 All this took about 450 years"After that, God gave them judges to rule until the time of Samuel the prophet.

21 그 후 이 백성들이 왕을 요구하자 하나님께서 베냐민 지파 기스의 아들 사울을 주어 40년 동안 다스리게 하셨습니다.

21 Then the people begged for a king, and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years.

22 그리고 사울을 폐하신 하나님께서는 다윗을 그들의 왕으로 세우셨습니다. 다윗에 대해 증언하시기를 '내가 이새의 아들 다윗을 보니 내 마음에 꼭 맞는 사람임을 알았다. 내가 바라는 모든 것을 그가 이룰 것이다'라고 하셨습니다.

22 But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, 'I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.'

23 하나님께서는 약속하신 대로 다윗의 자손 가운데 구세주를 이스라엘에게 보내 주셨는데 그 사람이 바로 예수입니다.

23 "And it is one of King David's descendants, Jesus, who is God's promised Savior of Israel!

24 예수께서 오시기 전에는 요한이 이스라엘 모든 백성들에게 회개의 세례를 선포했습니다.

24 Before he came, John the Baptist preached that all the people of Israel needed to repent of their sins and turn to God and be baptized.

25 그리고 요한은 자기 사역을 끝마칠 무렵 '너희는 나를 누구라고 생각하느냐? 나는 그리스도가 아니다. 그러나 그리스도는 내 뒤에 오실 것인데 나는 그분의 신발 끈을 풀 자격도 없는 사람이다'라고 말했습니다.

25 As John was finishing his ministry he asked, 'Do you think I am the Messiah? No, I am not! But he is coming soon?and I'm not even worthy to be his slave and untie the sandals on his feet.'

26 아브라함의 자손인 형제들이여! 그리고 하나님을 경외하는 이방 사람들이여! 하나님께서 이 구원의 말씀을 우리에게 보내 주셨습니다.

26 "Brothers?you sons of Abraham, and also you God-fearing Gentiles?this message of salvation has been sent to us!

27 예루살렘에 사는 사람들과 그 지도자들은 예수를 알아보기는커녕 오히려 예수를 정죄해 안식일마다 읽는 예언자들의 말씀을 그대로 이루었습니다.

27 The people in Jerusalem and their leaders did not recognize Jesus as the one the prophets had spoken about. Instead, they condemned him, and in doing this they fulfilled the prophets' words that are read every Sabbath.

28 그들은 사형을 선고할 근거를 전혀 찾지 못했음에도 예수를 죽여 달라고 빌라도에게 요구하고

28 They found no legal reason to execute him, but they asked Pilate to have him killed anyway.

29 예수에 관해 성경에 기록된 모든 말씀대로 행한 뒤 예수를 나무에서 끌어 내려 무덤에 묻었습니다.

29 "When they had done all that the prophecies said about him, they took him down from the cross and placed him in a tomb.

30 그러나 하나님께서는 죽은 사람들 가운데서 예수를 살리셨습니다.

30 But God raised him from the dead!

31 그 후 여러 날 동안 예수는 갈릴리로부터 예루살렘까지 자기와 동행했던 사람들에게 나타나셨습니다. 그들이 바로 지금 백성들에게 예수에 대해 증언하는 사람들입니다.

31 And over a period of many days he appeared to those who had gone with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to the people of Israel.

32 우리도 여러분에게 하나님께서 우리 조상들에게 약속하신 좋은 소식을 전하고자 합니다.

32 "And now we are here to bring you this Good News. The promise was made to our ancestors,

33 하나님께서는 예수를 살리심으로써 그들의 자손인 우리에게 그 약속이 이뤄지게 하셨습니다. 이것은 시편 2편에 기록된 것과 같습니다. '너는 내 아들이다. 오늘 내가 너를 낳았다.'

33 and God has now fulfilled it for us, their descendants, by raising Jesus. This is what the second psalm says about Jesus： 'You are my Son Today I have become your Father.'

34 하나님께서는 죽은 사람들 가운데서 예수를 다시 살리시고 썩지 않게 하셨는데 이것은 '내가 다윗에게 약속한 거룩하고 확실한 복을 너희에게 줄 것이다' 라고 말씀하셨던 것입니다.

34 For God had promised to raise him from the dead, not leaving him to rot in the grave. He said, 'I will give you the sacred blessings I promised to David.'

35 또 다른 시편에도 기록돼 있습니다. '주께서는 주의 거룩하신 분을 썩게 내버려 두지 않으실 것입니다.'

35 Another psalm explains it more fully： 'You will not allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.'

36 다윗은 한평생 하나님의 뜻을 잘 받들다 결국 잠들어 자기 조상들과 함께 묻혔고 그 시체는 썩고 말았습니다.

36 This is not a reference to David, for after David had done the will of God in his own generation, he died and was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed.

37 그러나 하나님께서 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살리신 분은 썩지 않으셨습니다.

37 No, it was a reference to someone else?someone whom God raised and whose body did not decay.

38 그러므로 내 형제들이여, 예수를 통해 죄 용서를 받을 수 있다는 소식이 여러분에게 선포되고 있음을 알기 바랍니다.

38 "Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins.

39 여러분이 모세의 율법으로는 의롭게 될 수 없었던 모든 것에서도 예수를 믿는 사람은 누구나 의롭다고 인정을 받게 되는 것입니다.

39 Everyone who believes in him is declared right with God?something the law of Moses could never do.

40 그러므로 예언자들이 말한 것이 여러분에게 일어나지 않도록 조심하십시오.

40 Be careful! Don't let the prophets' words apply to you. For they said,

41 '보라. 너희 비웃는 사람들아! 너희는 놀라고 망하라. 내가 너희 시대에 한 가지 일을 행하겠다. 누군가 그 일을 너희에게 전해 준다 해도 너희가 믿지 않을 것이다.'"

41 'Look, you mockers, be amazed and die! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe even if someone told you about it.'"

42 바울과 바나바가 회당에서 나오는데 사람들이 그들에게 다음 안식일에도 이 말씀을 좀 더 해 달라며 부탁했습니다.

42 As Paul and Barnabas left the synagogue that day, the people begged them to speak about these things again the next week.

43 집회가 다 끝난 후 많은 유대 사람들과 유대교로 개종한 경건한 사람들이 바울과 바나바를 따라왔습니다. 그들은 그 사람들과 함께 이야기를 나누고 하나님의 은혜 가운데 계속 머물러 있으라고 권했습니다.

43 Many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, and the two men urged them to continue to rely on the grace of God.

44 그다음 안식일에는 그 도시의 사람들이 거의 다 주의 말씀을 듣기 위해 모였습니다.

44 The following week almost the entire city turned out to hear them preach the word of the Lord.

45 그 무리를 본 유대 사람들은 시기심으로 가득 차 바울이 말하는 것을 반대하며 모욕했습니다.

45 But when some of the Jews saw the crowds, they were jealous; so they slandered Paul and argued against whatever he said.

46 그때 바울과 바나바가 그들에게 담대하게 대답했습니다. "우리는 하나님의 말씀을 여러분에게 먼저 전하지 않을 수 없었습니다. 그런데도 여러분은 그 말씀을 거절하고 영원한 생명을 얻기에 합당치 못한 사람이라고 스스로 판단하고 있습니다. 그렇기 때문에 우리는 이제 이방 사람들에게 눈을 돌립니다.

46 Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, "It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles.

47 이것이 바로 주께서 우리에게 하신 명령이기 때문입니다. '내가 너를 이방 사람들의 빛으로 삼았으니 이는 네가 땅끝까지 구원을 이루게 하려는 것이다.'"

47 For the Lord gave us this command when he said, 'I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.'"

48 이 말을 들은 이방 사람들은 기뻐하며 주의 말씀을 찬양했습니다. 그리고 영원한 생명을 얻도록 선택된 사람들은 모두 믿게 됐습니다.

48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were chosen for eternal life became believers.

49 그리하여 주의 말씀이 그 지방 전체에 두루 퍼졌습니다.

49 So the Lord's message spread throughout that region.

50 그러나 유대 사람들은 경건한 귀부인들과 그 도시의 지도자들을 선동해 바울과 바나바를 핍박하게 했고 결국 그 지방에서 그들을 강제로 내쫓았습니다.

50 Then the Jews stirred up the influential religious women and the leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas and ran them out of town.

51 그러자 바울과 바나바는 발에 붙어 있던 먼지를 그들을 향해 떨어 버리고 이고니온으로 갔습니다.

51 So they shook the dust from their feet as a sign of rejection and went to the town of Iconium.

52 제자들은 기쁨과 성령으로 충만했습니다.

52 And the believers were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
