1 내 누이, 내 정혼자야, 내가 내 동산에 들어와 내 몰약과 내 향료를 거두고 내 벌집과 내 꿀을 먹으며 내 포도즙과 내 젖을 마셨으니, 오 친구들아, 먹을지어다. 오 사랑하는 자들아, 마시되 참으로 풍성히 마실지어다.

1 THE BELOVED I have come to my garden, my sister, my spouse; I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. (TO HIS FRIENDS) Eat, O friends! Drink, yes, drink deeply, O beloved ones!

2 ¶ 내가 잘지라도 내 마음은 깨어 있나니 그것은 문을 두드리시는 나의 사랑하는 이의 목소리로다. 이르시되, 나의 누이, 나의 사랑, 나의 비둘기, 나의 더럽혀지지 아니한 자여, 나를 위해 문을 열어 다오. 내 머리에 이슬이 가득하며 내 머리채에 밤의 이슬방울이 가득하니라, 하시는도다.

2 THE SHULAMITE I sleep, but my heart is awake; It is the voice of my beloved! He knocks, saying, "Open for me, my sister, my love, My dove, my perfect one; For my head is covered with dew, My locks with the drops of the night."

3 내가 옷을 벗었으니 어찌 그것을 입으리요? 내가 발들을 씻었으니 어찌 그것들을 더럽히리요?

3 I have taken off my robe; How can I put it on again? I have washed my feet; How can I defile them?

4 나의 사랑하는 이가 문구멍으로 손을 들이미시매 내 속 중심이 그분으로 인해 움직였으므로

4 My beloved put his hand By the latch of the door, And my heart yearned for him.

5 내가 나의 사랑하는 이에게 문을 열기 위해 일어나니 내 손이 몰약과 함께, 내 손가락이 달콤한 냄새를 내는 몰약과 함께 자물쇠 손잡이로 떨어졌도다.

5 I arose to open for my beloved, And my hands dripped with myrrh, My fingers with liquid myrrh, On the handles of the lock.

6 내가 나의 사랑하는 이에게 문을 열었으나 나의 사랑하는 이는 스스로 물러나 가셨도다. 그분께서 말씀하실 때에 내 혼이 쇠하였나니 내가 그분을 찾았으나 만날 수 없었고 그분을 불렀으나 그분께서 내게 응답하지 아니하셨도다.

6 I opened for my beloved, But my beloved had turned away and was gone. My heart leaped up when he spoke. I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

7 도시를 도는 파수꾼들이 나를 만나매 그들이 나를 쳐서 내게 상처를 입혔으며 성벽들을 지키는 자들이 내게서 내 너울을 빼앗아 갔도다.

7 The watchmen who went about the city found me. They struck me, they wounded me; The keepers of the walls Took my veil away from me.

8 오 예루살렘의 딸들아, 내가 너희에게 당부하노니 너희가 나의 사랑하는 이를 만나거든 내가 사랑으로 인하여 병이 났다고 그분께 전하려무나.

8 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, If you find my beloved, That you tell him I am lovesick!

9 ¶ 오 여자들 가운데 가장 어여쁜 자야, 너의 사랑하는 이가 다른 사람의 사랑하는 자보다 나은 것이 무엇이냐? 너의 사랑하는 이가 다른 사람의 사랑하는 자보다 나은 것이 무엇이기에 네가 우리에게 이같이 당부하느냐?

9 THE DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM What is your beloved More than another beloved, O fairest among women? What is your beloved More than another beloved, That you so charge us?

10 나의 사랑하는 이는 희고도 불그스레하니 만 명 가운데 가장 뛰어나시도다.

10 THE SHULAMITE My beloved is white and ruddy, Chief among ten thousand.

11 그분의 머리는 가장 좋은 정금 같으며 그분의 머리채는 숱이 많고 까마귀같이 검도다.

11 His head is like the finest gold; His locks are wavy, And black as a raven.

12 그분의 눈은 물 많은 강가에 사는 비둘기의 눈 같아서 젖으로 씻은 것 같고 알맞게 박혔도다.

12 His eyes are like doves By the rivers of waters, Washed with milk, And fitly set.

13 그분의 뺨은 향료 꽃밭 같고 향기로운 꽃들과도 같으며 그분의 입술은 백합 같아서 달콤한 냄새를 내는 몰약을 떨어뜨리는도다.

13 His cheeks are like a bed of spices, Banks of scented herbs. His lips are lilies, Dripping liquid myrrh.

14 그분의 손은 녹주석을 박은 금반지 같고 그분의 배는 사파이어를 입힌 빛나는 상아 같도다.

14 His hands are rods of gold Set with beryl. His body is carved ivory Inlaid with sapphires.

15 그분의 다리는 정금 받침 위에 세운 대리석 기둥 같고 그분의 용모는 레바논 같으며 백향목처럼 빼어나고

15 His legs are pillars of marble Set on bases of fine gold. His countenance is like Lebanon, Excellent as the cedars.

16 그분의 입은 지극히 달콤하니 참으로 그분은 모든 것이 사랑스럽도다. 오 예루살렘의 딸들아, 이분이 나의 사랑하는 이시요, 이분이 나의 친구시로다.

16 His mouth is most sweet, Yes, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, And this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem!

1 오 여자들 가운데 가장 어여쁜 자야, 너의 사랑하는 이가 어디로 가셨느냐? 너의 사랑하는 이가 어디로 돌이키셨느냐? 우리가 너와 함께 그분을 찾으려 하노라.

1 THE DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM Where has your beloved gone, O fairest among women? Where has your beloved turned aside, That we may seek him with you?

2 나의 사랑하는 이는 자신의 동산으로 내려가사 향료 꽃밭에 이르러 동산에서 양 떼를 먹이시며 백합을 거두시는도다.

2 THE SHULAMITE My beloved has gone to his garden, To the beds of spices, To feed his flock in the gardens, And to gather lilies.

3 나는 나의 사랑하는 이의 것이요, 나의 사랑하는 이는 내 것이라. 그분은 백합 가운데서 양 떼를 먹이시는도다.

3 I am my beloved's, And my beloved is mine. He feeds his flock among the lilies.

4 ¶ 오 내 사랑아, 너는 디르사같이 어여쁘고 예루살렘같이 아름다우며 깃발을 세운 군대같이 위엄이 있구나.

4 THE BELOVED O my love, you are as beautiful as Tirzah, Lovely as Jerusalem, Awesome as an army with banners!

5 네 눈이 나를 사로잡았으니 내게서 그 눈을 돌려 다오. 네 머리털은 길르앗에서부터 모습을 드러내는 염소 떼 같고

5 Turn your eyes away from me, For they have overcome me. Your hair is like a flock of goats Going down from Gilead.

6 네 이는 씻는 데서 올라가는 양 떼 같은데 이 떼는 다 쌍둥이를 낳으며 그것들 가운데는 수태하지 못하는 것이 하나도 없구나.

6 Your teeth are like a flock of sheep Which have come up from the washing; Every one bears twins, And none is barren among them.

7 네 관자놀이는 네 머리채 속에 든 석류 조각 같구나.

7 Like a piece of pomegranate Are your temples behind your veil.

8 왕비가 육십 명이요, 후궁이 팔십 명이며 처녀는 수도 없이 많으나

8 There are sixty queens And eighty concubines, And virgins without number.

9 나의 비둘기, 나의 더럽혀지지 아니한 자는 오직 하나뿐이로구나. 그녀는 그녀의 어머니의 유일한 자요, 그녀를 낳은 여인이 가장 귀중히 여기는 자로구나. 딸들이 그녀를 보고 축복하였으니 참으로 왕비들과 후궁들도 그녀를 칭찬하였도다.

9 My dove, my perfect one, Is the only one, The only one of her mother, The favorite of the one who bore her. The daughters saw her And called her blessed, The queens and the concubines, And they praised her.

10 ¶ 아침같이 찬란하고 달같이 아름다우며 해같이 맑고 깃발을 세운 군대같이 위엄 있는 여자가 누구인가?

10 Who is she who looks forth as the morning, Fair as the moon, Clear as the sun, Awesome as an army with banners?

11 내가 골짜기의 열매들도 보고 포도나무가 무성하며 석류나무가 봉오리를 냈는지도 보려고 호두 동산으로 내려갔는데

11 THE SHULAMITE I went down to the garden of nuts To see the verdure of the valley, To see whether the vine had budded And the pomegranates had bloomed.

12 내가 미처 알기도 전에 내 혼이 나를 암미나딥의 병거들같이 되게 하였도다.

12 Before I was even aware, My soul had made me As the chariots of my noble people.

13 돌아오라. 돌아오라. 오 술람미 여인아, 돌아오라. 돌아오라. 우리가 너를 바라보려 하노라. 너희가 술람미 여인에게서 무엇을 보고자 하느냐? 그것은 마치 두 군대의 무리와 같도다.

13 THE BELOVED AND HIS FRIENDS Return, return, O Shulamite; Return, return, that we may look upon you! THE SHULAMITE What would you see in the Shulamite--As it were, the dance of the two camps?

1 오 통치자의 딸아, 신을 신은 네 발이 어찌 그리 아름다운가! 네 넓적다리 관절은 보석과 같아서 솜씨 있는 장인의 손으로 만든 작품 같구나.

1 THE BELOVED How beautiful are your feet in sandals, O prince's daughter! The curves of your thighs are like jewels, The work of the hands of a skillful workman.

2 네 배꼽은 즙이 부족하지 않은 둥근 잔 같고 네 배는 백합으로 둘러놓은 밀 더미 같구나.

2 Your navel is a rounded goblet; It lacks no blended beverage. Your waist is a heap of wheat Set about with lilies.

3 네 두 젖가슴은 쌍둥이 노루 새끼 두 마리 같구나.

3 Your two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle.

4 네 목은 상아 망대 같고 네 눈은 헤스본에 있는 바드라빔 성문 곁의 물고기 연못 같으며 네 코는 다마스쿠스를 바라보는 레바논 망대 같구나.

4 Your neck is like an ivory tower, Your eyes like the pools in Heshbon By the gate of Bath Rabbim. Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon Which looks toward Damascus.

5 네 위에 있는 네 머리는 갈멜 산 같고 네 머리털은 자줏빛 같으니 왕이 네 머리털 사이의 긴 방들에 붙잡혔구나.

5 Your head crowns you like Mount Carmel, And the hair of your head is like purple; A king is held captive by your tresses.

6 오 사랑아, 네가 어찌 그리 어여쁘고 어찌 그리 상냥하여 기쁨을 주는가!

6 How fair and how pleasant you are, O love, with your delights!

7 네 키가 이렇게 종려나무 같고 네 젖가슴은 포도송이 같구나.

7 This stature of yours is like a palm tree, And your breasts like its clusters.

8 내가 말하기를, 내가 종려나무에 올라가서 그것의 가지들을 붙잡으리라, 하였나니 이제 또한 네 젖가슴은 포도송이 같고 네 코의 냄새는 사과 같으며

8 I said, "I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of its branches." Let now your breasts be like clusters of the vine, The fragrance of your breath like apples,

9 네 입천장은 나의 사랑하는 자를 위한 가장 좋은 포도즙 같아서 달콤하게 흘러 내려 잠든 자들의 입술로 하여금 말하게 하느니라.

9 And the roof of your mouth like the best wine. THE SHULAMITE The wine goes down smoothly for my beloved, Moving gently the lips of sleepers.

10 ¶ 나는 나의 사랑하는 이의 것이요, 그분의 열망이 나를 향하는도다.

10 I am my beloved's, And his desire is toward me.

11 나의 사랑하는 이여, 오시옵소서. 우리가 들로 나아가 여러 마을에서 유숙하사이다.

11 Come, my beloved, Let us go forth to the field; Let us lodge in the villages.

12 우리가 일찍 일어나 포도원에 가서 포도나무가 무성한지, 연한 포도가 보이고 석류나무가 봉오리를 내는지 보사이다. 내가 거기서 당신에게 나의 사랑을 바치리이다.

12 Let us get up early to the vineyards; Let us see if the vine has budded, Whether the grape blossoms are open, And the pomegranates are in bloom. There I will give you my love.

13 합환채가 향기를 뿜어내고 우리의 성문들에는 온갖 종류의 아름다운 열매가 있나니 새 것과 오래된 것이라. 오 나의 사랑하는 이여, 내가 당신을 위하여 그것들을 쌓아 두었나이다.

13 The mandrakes give off a fragrance, And at our gates are pleasant fruits, All manner, new and old, Which I have laid up for you, my beloved.

1 오 당신이 내 어머니의 젖을 빤 내 형제라면 얼마나 좋을까! 그러면 내가 밖에서 당신을 만날 때에 당신에게 입을 맞추었을 것이요, 그리하여도 참으로 멸시받지 아니하였으리라.

1 Oh, that you were like my brother, Who nursed at my mother's breasts! If I should find you outside, I would kiss you; I would not be despised.

2 또 내가 당신을 인도하여 내 어머니의 집으로 데려가고 당신은 나를 훈계하였으리라. 내가 당신으로 하여금 내 석류 즙이 든 향기로운 포도즙을 마시게 하였으리니

2 I would lead you and bring you Into the house of my mother, She who used to instruct me. I would cause you to drink of spiced wine, Of the juice of my pomegranate.

3 그분께서 왼손으로 내 머리를 고이고 오른손으로 나를 껴안으시리로다.

3 (TO THE DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM) His left hand is under my head, And his right hand embraces me.

4 오 예루살렘의 딸들아, 내가 너희에게 당부하노니 너희는 나의 사랑하는 이가 기뻐하기 전에는 그분을 흔들지도 말고 깨우지도 말지니라.

4 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, Do not stir up nor awaken love Until it pleases.

5 자기의 사랑하는 이에게 기댄 채 광야에서 올라오는 이 여자는 누구인가? 내가 사과나무 밑에서 너를 일으켰나니 거기서 네 어머니가 너를 낳았고 너를 밴 여인이 거기서 너를 낳았노라.

5 RELATIVE Who is this coming up from the wilderness, Leaning upon her beloved? I awakened you under the apple tree. There your mother brought you forth; There she who bore you brought you forth.

6 ¶ 나를 도장같이 네 마음에 새기고 도장같이 네 팔에 새기라. 사랑은 죽음같이 강하고 질투는 무덤같이 잔인하니 그것의 숯은 극히 맹렬한 불꽃을 지닌 불붙은 숯이니라.

6 THE SHULAMITE TO HER BELOVED Set me as a seal upon your heart, As a seal upon your arm; For love is as strong as death, Jealousy as cruel as the grave; Its flames are flames of fire, A most vehement flame.

7 많은 물도 사랑을 끄지 못하며 홍수라도 그것을 잠기게 하지 못하나니 사람이 자기 집의 전 재산을 주고 사랑을 얻으려 할지라도 그것은 철저히 멸시를 받으리라.

7 Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love All the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised.

8 ¶ 우리에게 작은 누이가 있는데 그녀에게는 젖가슴이 없도다. 우리 누이가 청혼을 받는 날에 우리가 그녀를 위해 무엇을 할까?

8 THE SHULAMITE'S BROTHERS We have a little sister, And she has no breasts. What shall we do for our sister In the day when she is spoken for?

9 그녀가 성벽이라면 우리가 그녀 위에 은으로 궁궐을 지을 것이요, 그녀가 문이라면 우리가 백향목 판자로 그녀를 두르리라.

9 If she is a wall, We will build upon her A battlement of silver; And if she is a door, We will enclose her With boards of cedar.

10 나는 성벽이요, 내 젖가슴은 망대들 같으니 그런즉 내가 그분의 눈에 호의를 입은 자로 있었도다.

10 THE SHULAMITE I am a wall, And my breasts like towers; Then I became in his eyes As one who found peace.

11 솔로몬이 바알하몬에서 포도원을 소유하고는 그 포도원을 지키는 자들에게 세주고 각 사람이 그것의 열매의 대가로 은 천 개를 가져오게 하였도다.

11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal Hamon; He leased the vineyard to keepers; Everyone was to bring for its fruit A thousand silver coins.

12 내 포도원이 내 앞에 있으니 그것은 내 것이로다. 오 솔로몬이여, 당신은 반드시 천 개를 가지며 그것의 열매를 지키는 자들은 이백 개를 가지리이다.

12 (TO SOLOMON) My own vineyard is before me. You, O Solomon, may have a thousand, And those who tend its fruit two hundred.

13 동산들에 거하는 이여, 벗들이 당신의 음성에 귀를 기울이나니 나로 하여금 그것을 듣게 하소서.

13 THE BELOVED You who dwell in the gardens, The companions listen for your voice--Let me hear it!

14 ¶ 나의 사랑하는 이여, 서두르소서. 당신은 향료들의 산들 위에 있는 노루나 젊은 사슴같이 되시옵소서.

14 THE SHULAMITE Make haste, my beloved, And be like a gazelle Or a young stag On the mountains of spices.
