10.

1 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 문을 통해 양 우리에 들어가지 아니하고 다른 길로 넘어가는 자 바로 그자는 도둑이며 강도이나

1 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

2 문을 통해 들어가는 자는 양들의 목자니라.

2 "But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

3 문지기는 그에게 문을 열어 주고 양들은 그의 음성을 듣나니 그가 자기 양들을 이름으로 불러 그것들을 밖으로 인도하느니라.

3 "To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

4 그가 자기 양들을 내놓은 뒤에 그들 앞에 가면 양들이 그의 음성을 알므로 그를 따라오되

4 "And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.

5 낯선 자들의 음성은 알지 못하므로 낯선 자를 따르려 하지 아니하고 도리어 그에게서 도망하느니라, 하시니라.

5 "Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers."

6 예수님께서 이 비유를 그들에게 말씀하셨으나 그들은 그분께서 자기들에게 말씀하신 것들이 무엇인지 깨닫지 못하더라.

6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.

7 그때에 예수님께서 다시 그들에게 이르시되, 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 나는 양들의 문이니라.

7 Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

8 나보다 먼저 온 모든 자들은 도둑이요 강도이나 양들이 그들의 말을 듣지 아니하였느니라.

8 "All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.

9 내가 곧 문이니 누구든지 나를 통해 안으로 들어가면 구원을 받고 또 들어가고 나오며 꼴을 얻으리라.

9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

10 도둑이 오는 것은 다만 도둑질하고 죽이고 멸망시키려 함이거니와 내가 온 것은 양들이 생명을 얻게 하고 또 생명을 더욱 풍성히 얻게 하려 함이라.

10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

11 나는 선한 목자니라. 선한 목자는 양들을 위해 자기 생명을 주거니와

11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

12 목자가 아닌 삯군 곧 양들이 자기 것이 아닌 자는 이리가 오는 것을 보면 양들을 버리고 도망하나니 이리가 그것들을 붙잡아가고 또 양들을 헤치느니라.

12 "But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.

13 삯군이 도망하는 것은 그가 삯군이므로 양들을 돌보지 아니하기 때문이라.

13 "The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.

14 나는 선한 목자라 내 양들을 알고 내 양들도 나를 아노라.

14 "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.

15 [아버지]께서 나를 알 듯이 나도 [아버지]를 아노니 나는 양들을 위해 내 생명을 내놓느니라.

15 "As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

16 또 이 우리에 속하지 않은 다른 양들이 내게 있으므로 그들도 내가 반드시 데려오리니 그들이 내 음성을 듣겠고 이로써 한 우리와 한 목자가 있으리라.

16 "And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

17 이러므로 내 [아버지]께서 나를 사랑하시나니 이는 내가 내 생명을 다시 취하려고 그것을 내놓기 때문이라.

17 "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.

18 아무도 그것을 내게서 빼앗지 아니하며 내가 스스로 그것을 버리노라. 내게는 그것을 버릴 권능도 있고 그것을 다시 취할 권능도 있노라. 나는 이 명령을 내 [아버지]에게서 받았느니라, 하시니라.

18 "No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."

19 ¶ 그러므로 이 말씀들로 인해 유대인들 가운데 다시 분열이 생겼으므로

19 Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings.

20 그들 중의 많은 자들은 이르되, 그는 마귀 들려 미쳤거늘 어찌하여 너희가 그의 말을 듣느냐? 하고

20 And many of them said, "He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?"

21 다른 사람들은 이르되, 이것들은 마귀 들린 자의 말이 아니니라. 마귀가 눈먼 자의 눈을 열어 줄 수 있느냐? 하더라.

21 Others said, "These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"

22 ¶ 예루살렘에 성전 봉헌절이 이르렀는데 때는 겨울이더라.

22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter.

23 예수님께서 성전 안의 솔로몬의 주랑에서 거니시더니

23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon's porch.

24 그때에 유대인들이 그분 주위로 와서 그분께 이르되, 당신은 언제까지 우리로 하여금 의심하게 하시나이까? 당신이 그리스도라면 우리에게 분명하게 말씀하소서, 하매

24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, "How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly."

25 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하시되, 내가 너희에게 말하였으나 너희가 믿지 아니하였도다. 내가 내 [아버지]의 이름으로 행하는 일들이 나에 대하여 증언하거늘

25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me.

26 내가 너희에게 말한 것과 같이 너희가 내 양들에 속하지 아니하므로 믿지 아니하는도다.

26 "But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.

27 내 양들은 내 음성을 들으며 나는 그들을 알고 그들은 나를 따르느니라.

27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

28 내가 그들에게 영원한 생명을 주노니 그들이 결코 멸망하지 않을 것이요 또 아무도 내 손에서 그들을 빼앗지 못하리라.

28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

29 그들을 내게 주신 내 [아버지]는 모든 것보다 크시매 아무도 내 [아버지] 손에서 능히 그들을 빼앗지 못하느니라.

29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.

30 나와 내 [아버지]는 하나이니라, 하시니라.

30 "I and My Father are one."

31 이에 유대인들이 돌을 집어 다시 그분을 치려 하거늘

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.

32 예수님께서 그들에게 응답하시되, 내가 내 [아버지]로부터 나온 많은 선한 일을 너희에게 보였거늘 그 일들 중의 어떤 일 때문에 너희가 나를 돌로 치려 하느냐? 하시매

32 Jesus answered them, "Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?"

33 유대인들이 그분께 대답하여 이르되, 우리가 너를 돌로 치려 하는 것은 선한 일 때문이 아니요 신성모독 때문이니 곧 사람인 네가 네 자신을 하나님으로 만들기 때문이니라, 하매

33 The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God."

34 예수님께서 그들에게 응답하시되, 너희 율법에, 내가 말하기를, 너희는 신들이라, 하였노라, 하고 기록되지 아니하였느냐?

34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, "You are gods"'?

35 하나님의 말씀이 임한 자들을 그분께서 신들이라 하셨으며 또 성경 기록은 깨뜨리지 못할진대

35 "If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),

36 [아버지]께서 거룩히 구별하사 세상에 보내신 자인 내가, 나는 하나님의 [아들]이라, 하였으므로 너희가 그에게, 네가 신성모독한다, 하느냐?

36 "do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?

37 내가 만일 내 [아버지]의 일들을 행하지 아니하거든 나를 믿지 말려니와

37 "If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;

38 내가 행하거든 너희가 나를 믿지 아니할지라도 그 일들은 믿으라. 그러면 [아버지]께서 내 안에 계시고 내가 그분 안에 있음을 너희가 알고 믿으리라, 하시니라.

38 "but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him."

39 이러므로 그들이 다시 그분을 잡고자 하였으나 그분께서는 그들의 손에서 피하시고

39 Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.

40 다시 요르단 건너편 곧 요한이 처음에 침례를 주던 곳으로 가셔서 거기 거하시니

40 And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there He stayed.

41 많은 사람들이 그분께 나아왔다가 이르되, 요한은 아무 기적도 행하지 아니하였으나 요한이 이 사람에 대해 말한 모든 것은 진실이라, 하더라.

41 Then many came to Him and said, "John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true."

42 거기서 많은 사람들이 그분을 믿으니라.

42 And many believed in Him there.

11.

1 이제 나사로라 하는 어떤 사람이 병들었는데 그는 마리아와 그녀의 언니 마르다의 고을 베다니 출신이더라.

1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.

2 (그 마리아는 향유를 [주]께 붓고 자기 머리털로 그분의 발을 닦던 자더라. 그녀의 오라비 나사로가 병들었더라.)

2 It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

3 그러므로 그의 누이들이 그분께 사람을 보내어 이르되, [주]여, 보소서, 주께서 사랑하시는 자가 병들었나이다, 하매

3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick."

4 예수님께서 그것을 들으시고 이르시되, 이 병은 죽을 병이 아니라 하나님의 영광을 위한 것이니 하나님의 [아들]이 그것으로 말미암아 영광을 받으리라, 하시더라.

4 When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it."

5 이제 예수님께서 마르다와 그녀의 여동생과 나사로를 사랑하시더라.

5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

6 그러므로 그분께서 그가 병들었다는 것을 들으신 뒤에 자신이 계시던 같은 장소에서 이틀을 더 머무시고

6 So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.

7 그 뒤에 자기 제자들에게 이르시되, 우리가 다시 유대로 들어가자, 하시매

7 Then after this He said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."

8 그분의 제자들이 그분께 이르되, 선생님이여, 최근에 유대인들이 돌로 선생님을 치려 하였는데 또 거기로 가시나이까? 하니

8 The disciples said to Him, "Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?"

9 예수님께서 대답하시되, 낮에 열두 시간이 있지 아니하냐? 사람이 만일 낮에 다니면 이 세상의 빛을 보므로 걸려 넘어지지 아니하되

9 Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

10 밤에 다니면 빛이 그 사람 안에 없으므로 걸려 넘어지느니라, 하시니라.

10 "But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

11 이것들을 말씀하시고 그 뒤에 그분께서 그들에게 이르시되, 우리 친구 나사로가 잠자는도다. 그러나 내가 그를 잠에서 깨우러 가노라, 하시니

11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up."

12 이에 그분의 제자들이 이르되, [주]여, 그가 잠자면 좋아지리이다, 하니라.

12 Then His disciples said, "Lord, if he sleeps he will get well."

13 그러나 예수님께서는 그의 죽음에 대해 말씀하셨으되 그들은 그분께서 잠자며 쉬는 것에 대해 말씀하신 줄로 생각하니

13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.

14 이에 예수님께서 그들에게 분명하게 이르시되, 나사로가 죽었느니라.

14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead.

15 내가 거기에 있지 아니하였던 것을 너희를 위해 기뻐하노니 이것은 너희가 믿게 하려 함이라. 그럼에도 불구하고 우리가 그에게로 가자, 하시매

15 "And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him."

16 그때에 디두모라 하는 도마가 자기 동료 제자들에게 이르되, 우리도 그분과 함께 죽으러 가자, 하니라.

16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him."

17 그때에 예수님께서 와서 보시니 그가 무덤에 누운 지 이미 나흘이나 되었더라.

17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.

18 이제 베다니는 예루살렘에서 십오 스타디온쯤 떨어진 가까운 곳이므로

18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.

19 유대인들 중의 많은 자들이 마르다와 마리아에게 와서 그들의 오라비에 관하여 그들을 위로하더라.

19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

20 그때에 마르다는 예수님께서 오신다는 말을 듣고 곧 가서 그분을 맞이하되 마리아는 여전히 집에 앉아 있더라.

20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house.

21 그때에 마르다가 예수님께 이르되, [주]여, 주께서 여기 계셨더라면 내 오라버니가 죽지 아니하였으리이다.

21 Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.

22 그러나 이제라도 주께서 무엇이든 하나님께 구하면 하나님께서 그것을 주께 주실 줄 내가 아나이다, 하니

22 "But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."

23 예수님께서 그녀에게 이르시되, 네 오라비가 다시 일어나리라, 하시니라.

23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."

24 마르다가 그분께 이르되, 마지막 날 부활할 때에 그가 다시 일어날 줄 내가 아나이다, 하매

24 Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."

25 예수님께서 그녀에게 이르시되, 나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고

25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

26 누구든지 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 결코 죽지 아니하리라. 이것을 네가 믿느냐? 하시니

26 "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

27 그녀가 그분께 이르되, 그러하오이다, [주]여, 주는 그리스도시요 세상에 오실 하나님의 [아들]이신 줄 내가 믿나이다, 하니라.

27 She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world."

28 이렇게 말하고 그녀가 자기 길로 가서 은밀히 자기 동생 마리아를 불러 이르되, 선생님께서 오셔서 너를 부르신다, 하니

28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, "The Teacher has come and is calling for you."

29 그녀가 그 말을 듣고 급히 일어나 그분께 가더라.

29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him.

30 이제 예수님께서는 아직 고을로 들어오지 아니하시고 마르다가 그분을 맞이했던 곳에 계시더라.

30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him.

31 그때에 마리아와 함께 집에 있으면서 그녀를 위로하던 유대인들은 그녀가 급히 일어나 나가는 것을 보고, 그녀가 무덤에서 슬피 울려고 무덤에 간다, 하며 그녀를 따라가니라.

31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, "She is going to the tomb to weep there."

32 그때에 마리아가 예수님 계신 곳에 와서 그분을 보고 그분의 발 앞에 엎드려 그분께 이르되, [주]여, 주께서 여기 계셨더라면 내 오라버니가 죽지 아니하였으리이다, 하더라.

32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died."

33 그러므로 예수님께서 그녀가 우는 것과 또 그녀와 함께 온 유대인들도 우는 것을 보시고 영으로 신음하시며 괴로워하시고

33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.

34 이르시되, 너희가 그를 어디에 두었느냐? 하시니 그들이 그분께 이르되, [주]여, 와서 보시옵소서, 하매

34 And He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see."

35 예수님께서 우시더라.

35 Jesus wept.

36 이에 유대인들이 이르되, 보라, 그분께서 그를 얼마나 사랑하셨는가! 하고

36 Then the Jews said, "See how He loved him!"

37 그들 중의 어떤 이들은 이르되, 눈먼 자의 눈을 열어 준 이 사람이 이 사람은 죽지 않게 할 수 없었느냐? 하더라.

37 And some of them said, "Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?"

38 그러므로 예수님께서 다시 속으로 신음하시며 무덤에 가셨는데 그 무덤은 동굴이며 그 위에 돌이 놓였더라.

38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

39 예수님께서 이르시되, 돌을 옮겨 놓으라, 하시매 죽은 자의 누이 마르다가 그분께 이르되, [주]여, 그가 죽은 지 나흘이 되었으므로 지금은 그에게서 냄새가 나나이다, 하니

39 Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days."

40 예수님께서 그녀에게 이르시되, 내가 네게 말하기를, 네가 믿고자 하면 하나님의 영광을 보리라, 하지 아니하였느냐? 하시니라.

40 Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?"

41 그때에 그들이 죽은 자를 둔 곳에서 돌을 옮겨 놓으니 예수님께서 눈을 드시고 이르시되, [아버지]여, 아버지께서 내 말을 들으신 것을 감사하나이다.

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

42 아버지께서 항상 내 말을 들으시는 줄을 내가 알았나이다. 그러나 곁에 서 있는 사람들 때문에 내가 그것을 말하였사오니 이것은 [아버지]께서 나를 보내신 것을 그들이 믿게 하려 함이니이다, 하시니라.

42 "And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me."

43 그분께서 이렇게 말씀하시고 큰 소리로 외쳐, 나사로야, 나오라, 하시니

43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!"

44 죽은 자가 수의로 손발이 묶인 채 나오는데 그의 얼굴은 수건으로 묶였더라. 예수님께서 그들에게 이르시되, 그를 풀어 주어 그가 다니게 하라, 하시니라.

44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, and let him go."

45 그때에 마리아에게 와서 예수님께서 행하신 일들을 본 유대인들 중의 많은 자들이 그분을 믿었으나

45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.

46 그들 중의 어떤 사람들은 자기들의 길로 바리새인들에게 가서 예수님께서 행하신 일들을 그들에게 고하니라.

46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did.

47 ¶ 이에 수제사장들과 바리새인들이 공회를 모으고 이르되, 이 사람이 많은 기적들을 행하니 우리가 어떻게 하리요?

47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we do? For this Man works many signs.

48 만일 우리가 그를 이대로 두면 모든 사람이 그를 믿을 것이요 그러면 로마 사람들이 와서 우리의 터전과 민족을 다 빼앗아 가리라, 하매

48 "If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation."

49 그들 중의 한 사람으로서 그 해의 대제사장인 가야바라 하는 자가 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 결코 아무것도 알지 못하며

49 And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,

50 또 한 사람이 백성을 위해 죽어서 온 민족이 멸망하지 않게 되는 것이 우리에게 유익한 줄을 깊이 생각하지 아니하는도다, 하더라.

50 "nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish."

51 그는 스스로 이 말을 하지 아니하고 그 해의 대제사장이므로 예수님께서 그 민족을 위해 죽으실 것을 대언하되

51 Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,

52 그분께서 그 민족만을 위해 죽지 아니하고 널리 흩어진 하나님의 자녀들을 함께 모아 하나가 되게 하려고 죽으실 것을 대언하였더라.

52 and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.

53 이에 그들이 그 날부터 그분을 죽이려고 함께 의논하니라.

53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.

54 그러므로 예수님께서 다시는 유대인들 가운데 드러나게 다니지 아니하시고 거기를 떠나 광야에 가까운 시골로 가서 에브라임이라 하는 도시로 들어가 거기서 자기 제자들과 함께 머무르시니라.

54 Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there remained with His disciples.

55 ¶ 유대인들의 유월절이 가까이 오매 많은 사람이 자기를 정결하게 하려고 유월절 전에 시골에서 예루살렘으로 올라가니라.

55 And the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went from the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.

56 그때에 그들이 예수님을 찾으며 성전에 서서 자기들끼리 말하되, 너희 생각은 어떠하냐, 그가 이 명절을 지키러 오지 아니하겠느냐? 하니라.

56 Then they sought Jesus, and spoke among themselves as they stood in the temple, "What do you think--that He will not come to the feast?"

57 이제 수제사장들과 바리새인들은 다 그분을 붙잡기 위해 누구든지 그분께서 계신 곳을 알거든 그곳을 알리라고 명령을 내리니라.

57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, that they might seize Him.
